MotoGP 24 is the fourteenth racing game under the Grand Prix motorcycle racing license, created by the Italian studio Milestone (MotoGP series as such has more versions - initially it was supervised by other developers).
Gameplay
Thanks to the official license, the game includes all tracks, motorcycles, teams and riders from the 2024 season. It provides not only the top MotoGP class, but also slower machines from the lower Moto2 and Moto3 categories, allowing for gradual advancement to the top.
Like the previous installments, MotoGP 24 puts quite a lot of emphasis on realism, which is manifested both in the driving model and the realities of this motorsport discipline - from the rules of racing to behind-the-scenes events away from the tracks. Milestone studio expanded both of the mentioned aspects.
One of the main new features in MotoGP 24 is the transfer market for riders. This allows to change riders in the team ahead of future seasons and enables the player to search for new partners. We are also obligated to make efforts not to be kicked out of the currently represented team. This mechanic works together with social media and the so-called turning points introduced to the career in the previous installment of the series.
Greater realism is also manifested on the track through the expansion of the refereeing system. The race management is more closely monitoring the behavior of the competitors and applying more meticulous penalties for offenses, from warnings, through orders to let the rival pass after improper overtaking, to the cancellation of qualifying results.
Along with more vigilant referees comes the improvement of opponents' artificial intelligence. They now have a more diverse driving style, depending on experience. For example, world champions show prudence, waiting for the right moment to attack, while newcomers fight more fiercely.
Minor changes in MotoGP 24 also include physics. The new electronic tuning system is designed to help control the rear wheel slip, as well as the front wheel lifting off the ground. The creators also examined individual types of tires to ensure optimal performance (without losing their characteristic properties).
Despite the emphasis on realism, Milestone studio kept less experienced players in mind, offering them a wide range of driving assists. A new adaptive difficulty level has also been prepared, which continuously adjusts the skill level of computer opponents to how we are doing. Additionally, the MotoGP Academy mode, which serves as an extensive tutorial, is making a return.
Game modes
The core of the gameplay is the single-player career mode. MotoGP 24 also offers a range of single and multiplayer game variants, including time trials and single races. We can compete with other players on a split screen (does not apply to the Switch version) or over the network.
A novelty in online gameplay is the LiveGP championships, designed for the most dedicated fans, who fight for points in the ranking tables throughout the seasons.
Technology
The game was released for both the eighth and ninth generation of consoles, so the graphics quality does not differ significantly from MotoGP 23.
