MXGP Pro: The Official Motocross Videogame is the fourth installment of the series devoted to motocross, developed by the Italian studio, Milestone, which is know not only for their games featuring two-wheel vehicles, like MotoGP or RIDE, but also rally games, including Gravel, Sebastien Loeb Rally Evo, and a couple of other titles from under the WRC brand. The game was released – among others – on the {PLAT} platform.
Mechanics
MXGP Pro: The Official Motocross Videogame offers the players to take part in the titular race competition. The game has the FIM license (Fédération Internationale de Motocyclisme). Thanks to this the players can face real racers and teams, that took part in the 2017 World Championships; take part in official colors of real-life sponsors, and ride one of several dozen motorcycles.
The creators made sure that the steering, though arcade-like, is as true to the real thing as possible. This includes doing tricks (now, the players have much more control over the steering during these sequences), the behavior of the bike and the rider after a landing, the physics of the suspension, the operating of the clutch at the beginning of a race, and the way the bike takes corners. The creators also made sure that the track gets covered in deep ruts after every lap. Skillfully balancing the rider is also important, e.g. when getting ready for a jump. The inclusion of these features was made possible thanks to the help of Antonio Cairoli, a nine-time world champion who introduces the players to the intricacies of motocross.
Game mode
The core of the {PLAT} release of MXGP Pro: The Official Motocross Videogame is the robust career mode, in which players gradually climb up the ranks of the motocross leaderboard. In addition, there are thirty challenges, thanks to which the players can learn various techniques that help to get in the lead during races. The list of single-player modes ends with the Compound mode, this is a special training zone where players can master their skills. Moreover, the developers also included a PvP multiplayer mode.
Technical aspects
MXGP Pro: The Official Motocross Videogame offers high-quality 3D visuals. The bike models are very detailed and impressive, so are the realistic rider suits; the stages themselves are also a treat for the eyes, there, the formation of the aforementioned ruts is especially worth noting.
