My Lovely Daughter from Game Changer studio is a strategy game with elements of simulation and horror. Our task is to create and develop homunculuses (creatures that resemble little girls) with different characters, to fill our dead daughter with their essence and to bring her back to life.
Plot
In My Lovely Daughter we take on the role of Faust, the alchemist. One day the hero wakes up with amnesia and, to his horror, finds his dead daughter in the next room. He decides to bring her back to life at all costs. It turns out that her soul has been enchanted into an alchemical stone, but in order to free her, Faust needs more energy - which he must draw from the dedication of the homunculus he has created.
Mechanics
In My Lovely Daughter we play the role of an alchemist who wants to bring his dead daughter back to life. To do this, however, it must breathe the essence into the stone containing the girl's soul. For this purpose, the player uses homunculus - artificially bred by us creatures. In order to bring his daughter back to life, she must be inspired by the essence of 4 types of feelings: joy, anger, sadness and fear. Each of the homunculus created by us is an embodiment of one of the above. The task of the player is to balance these attributes (the game does not impose proportions on us) by sacrificing homunculus with tendencies that we consider necessary.
We create homunculus by combining raw materials such as water, metal, wood and clay. However, it should be remembered that mixing 3 completely different resources will result in a worse type of homunkulus, which develops more slowly and gives smaller bonuses. Each creature we create has its own character, desires and levels - general and attachments to our person. Our task is to develop them - up to a maximum of level 10. We gain experience points for raising our "daughters" and sending them to work. The higher the level, the greater the benefits when it comes to devoting a homunculus: better quality raw materials (which can be donated as part of a task or used to create a higher starting level homunculus) and more essence to fill the soul of our dead daughter. The level of attachment can be developed by giving our "daughters" gifts. The attachment is useful for our homunculuses not to run away from us, but above all for sending us letters so that you can immerse yourself in the lore game and learn more - both about the "daughters" and other villagers.
In order to buy gifts and special items that make the game easier (providing more raw materials or money), you need constant profits. We get money in two ways. The main source of income is sending our homunculus to work. The available classes correspond to one of the 4 types of personality, and the best results are achieved if we match our homunculas to the classes that suit them. The second type of income is the execution of special orders, which consist in providing residents with better quality ingredients - for these tasks we can get the most money.
Game modes
The game is for one person.
Technical aspects
It is worth mentioning that the visual setting is sparing and inspires a sense of horror. My Lovely Daughter resembles illustrations of an old yellowish book, and objects and characters are drawn with a sharp, dramatic line. The audio setting harmonizes with the atmosphere: we can hear mainly the sad violin playing, interrupted in more dramatic moments by more terrible sounds.
