Onward for PC is a tactical shooter, focused on multiplayer gameplay. The production, created with VR goggles in mind, is the debut work of the independent Downpour Interactive studio.
Mechanics
Onward takes the player to a realistically recreated modern battlefield. Battles take place in diverse environments, from desert villages to container-filled yards. The game offers features like dynamic weather conditions and a day and night cycle. The title stands out from other productions due to the lack of typical FPS features: the HUD, the ammo indicator, and even the traditional crosshair in the middle of the screen. Also, the number of respawns possible in a single match is strictly limited. The key to success is, therefore, the coordination of players' actions, effective communication and the use of both the environment and individual weapons.
Technical aspects
Onward for PC requires VR goggles and dedicated motion controllers. Players can look around freely (by moving their heads) and to move around. They aim with the previously mentioned controllers. The audio-visuals offer very realistic weapon sound effects, and decently designed graphics.
