Pocket City is an economic strategy game developed for AND and iOS by Codebrew Games. The production uses a premium model in which there are no microtransactions and the only expense is a one-off purchase of the game. In addition, there is also a separate free trial version available, also without microtransactions, but with ads (watching them gives players virtual prizes).
Mechanics
We play as a newly appointed mayor of a small town. Our task is to transform the city into a vibrant metropolis. While playing, we need to construct residential, commercial and industrial districts, create parks and other recreational facilities, as well as fight crime and natural disasters such as fires and tornadoes.
In Pocket City players must carefully plan the development of the city, as e.g. building a housing estate right next to a factory will have a negative impact on the level of residents' satisfaction. While playing, it is also necessary to take care of the environment, the labour market and the income of the local community. It is also necessary to develop a system of roads, so that communication in the metropolitan area runs smoothly and quickly.
The game also features missions - compelting them provides the access to useful abilities and special buildings. In addition, the city is inhabited by various characters, such as advisers or criminals - our interactions with them influence the development of the whole metropolis.
Technical aspects
Pocket City offers attractive graphics made in bright colours, slightly cartoon style, and the city is shown in isometric view.
