Professor Layton vs. Ace Attorney 3DS

Professor Layton vs. Ace Attorney is, according to the name of the so-called crossover, a game in which the heroes of several different series play. In this particular case, the characters from the two most popular series of adventures released by Nintendo's portable consoles, Professor Layton and Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney, come together.

The action of the game takes place in a completely new universe, which did not appear in the previous games of both series. One day Phoenix Wright and his assistant Maya Fey and Professor Layton and his companion Luke Tritton are transferred to this world. There is a mysterious medieval castle called Labyrinth City. This place has made the witches who hide in the shadows and, to top it all, the whole area is ruled by a black character known as the Story Teller. The plot revolves around a young girl named Mahone, who is accused of being a witch. Phoenix Wright shoulders the duty to represent her in the trial for witchcraft, while Professor Layton decides to solve the mystery of the City of Labyrinth.

Professor Layton vs. Ace Attorney is an adventure game in which fun mechanics is a combination of solutions from both series. As Phoenix Wright we must collect evidence and then confront witnesses in court in order to refute testimonies that are unfavourable to us. What is new are the scenes we listen to several people at the same time and we have to find inaccuracies in their statements. All of this is done in order to finally bring about the acquittal of Mahone. As Professor Layton, we explore locations and talk to independent figures. Above all, however, we have to face a series of ingenious logical puzzles, the solution of which will reveal the truth about the City of the Labyrinth to us.

Events in the game are presented with pastel 2D graphics maintained in the convention of Japanese cartoons. The story is made more attractive by animated intermittent scenes. All characters in Professor Layton vs. Ace Attorney speak with their own voices, thanks to professionally recorded audio tracks.
