Project L33T is a tactical extraction shooter in which we plunder closed zones and do everything to leave them in one piece. The game is the debut project of the independent Holmgard Games studio, founded by developers whose portfolio includes such projects as League of Legends, the Call of Duty series and World of Tanks.
Plot
The action of Project L33T takes place in a universe where, as a result of a mysterious cataclysm known as The Event, strange anomalies began to occur in some territories. We are talking about violent, unpredictable changes in weather, the appearance of fragments of extraordinary matter, and even about alien landings. These places have been cut off from the world, and only members of the elite group L.3.3.T have access to them. We play as one of them during the game.
Mechanics
In Project L33T we watch the action from a first-person perspective (FPP). While playing, we come across dangerous areas and our task is to collect everything we consider valuable. Among the loot, artifacts take the lead, some of which provide various benefits and various enhancements. After filling the backpack and pockets, we have nothing else to do but go to the evacuation point. Nevertheless, we can never be sure that we will manage to leave a certain hostile zone in one piece.
Our path is blocked by both enemies controlled by artificial intelligenceand other "stalkers", controlled by other players who perceive us as their competition. We eliminate enemies mainly using a wide range of firearms. During shootings, it's worth keeping in mind that the weapon behaves in a realistic way, which translates not only to ballistics, but also to the possibility of jamming or overheating of a given firearm.
In addition, we must keep an eye on our character's stats during the game, otherwise sooner or later they will die of hunger, thirst, blood loss, poisoning or exhaustion. In addition to this, our soldier may suffer various injuries and fractures, which also do not leave his combat potential unaffected.
The controls in the game deserve a separate mention. Our character can smoothly transition between different postures (such as leaning or crouching) and change the speed of movement, slide on surfaces, as well as skillfully overcome terrain obstacles, climb ropes or help other players in climbing high objects. Manuals have been scattered around the locations, which allow us to unlock additional moves, such as knocking down enemies.
The stakes are high, because if we fall on the battlefield, we will lose everything we had with us at the time of death. If we manage to escape unscathed, we can return to our operational base, where we can sell the loot we have acquired and stock up on new equipment, as well as upgrade the equipment we already have.
The game gives us a wide range of options for modifying weapons, which includes replacing their individual elements (from handles and stocks, through triggers and barrels, to magazines) and the possibility of freely painting them. Moreover, the game allows us to influence the appearance of our character through a wide range of hairstyles, camouflages, clothing elements and various patches.
Game modes
Project L33T was designed for cooperative play over the Internet. Given that lone wolves won't achieve much here, if we want to succeed, it's worth teaming up in squads to increase our chances of victory. The game also features mercenaries controlled by AI, who react realistically to our commands and support us on the battlefield.
