8-bit Invaders
8-bit Invaders

Strategy 16 December 2016

A real-time strategy created by Petroglyph studio. The players are taken to a futuristic universe, taking control of the Galactic Marine Corps or the ravenous race of Cranoids. The gameplay focuses on two pillars: first is the expansion of the headquarters, gathering resources, and acquisition of more and more advanced units and upgrades. The second pillar are the direct, real-time battles, including classic infantry, as well as deadly battle vehicles, or huge mechs. Destroyable environment, along with maps varied in size and aesthetics, allow the players to adopt various tactics. 8-bit Invaders contains a story campaign, a cooperative multiplayer mode, and a skirmish mode, allowing for up to eight players. Similarly to the studio’s previous games, the visuals are constructed from voxels – the toned-down colors give away the StarCraft influences. The game is complemented by soundtrack composed by Frank Klepacki – the author of Command & Conquer soundtrack.

Strategy 12 August 2016

An old-school real-time strategy game set in a fantasy world and created by Petroglyph - an experienced team popular mainly games such as Star Wars: Empire at War, Universe at War: Earth Assault or Grey Goo. 8-bit Hordes is based on the classic RTS mechanics. The game presents a conflict between the Dark Orcs and the Lightbringers. The latter are a coalition of humans, dwarves and elves. The player gathers resources, expands their base, produces units and fights the enemy forces. The game offers a wide set of game modes, including a single-player campaign, cooperation-oriented missions and maps for the multiplayer component, which allows for both skirmishes and a classic PvP experience for up to 8 players. As far as the multiplayer is concerned, 8-bit Hordes is fully compatible with the studio's previous game named 8-bit Armies. This allows the owners of one of the games to play with those who bought the other one; the maps are shared and factions from both games are playable in this case. In terms of the art style, 8-bit Hordes offers colorful graphics based on voxels.

Strategy 22 April 2016

A real-time strategy with colorful, voxel graphics. 8-bit Armies was developed by the experienced studio Petroglyph, the creators of such games as Star Wars: Empire at War and Universe at War: Earth Assault. The gameplay focuses on gathering resources, expanding the base, developing technologies, recruiting an army and fighting the opponents. The game from studio Petroglyph contains a few unorthodox features such as the lack of unit cap and destroyable environment which can be tactically used for one’s advantage. 8-bit Armies offers singleplayer and multiplayer modes. The latter can be played both in classic mode and in cooperation mode. Old school graphics stylized on the 8-bit era and a light, humorous tone are the characteristic traits of this game. The soundtrack of the game was composed by Frank Klepacki, the creator of music for the Command & Conquer series.
