Risky's Revenge is a continuation of a colourful platformer released in 2002 on Gameboy Color and one of the best games for this console.
developer: WayForward publisher: WayForward Official website
Shantae: Risky's Revenge, created by WayForward Technologies and released on NDS and iOS, is a continuation of the first part released on Gameboy Color.
Plot
Shantae: Risky's Revenge tells the story of a female genie Shantae, who is thrown out of the position of a defender of Scuttle Town after she failed once. The heroine, despite being deprived of her position, decides to protect the inhabitants and faces the evil Risky Boots', who plans to destroy the city.
Mechanics
Shantae: Risky's Revenge is a platformer where dexterity counts most. The authors did not deviate from the classic solutions known from similar titles and focused on a large number of platforming challenges and barely a few novelties. The task of the players is to move to the right, overcome chasms, collect certain treasures and eliminate enemies with the help of the heroine's magic hair.
The developers have diversified the gameplay by allowing Shantae to change her character into various animals - this gives the heroine new abilities. Thanks to this, for example, as a monkey, the heroine can climb lianas, and as an elephant, she becomes more powerful.
Technical aspects
The advantage of the game is its atmosphere. WayForward Technologies set their work in the Middle East, which they documented with an appropriately selected soundtrack, level and character designs.
Shantae: Risky's Revenge is distributed through DSiWare digital distribution.
