South Park: The Fractured But Whole
Another installment in an RPG series based on the Comedy Central’ cult adult-oriented cartoon TV series. The title is a direct sequel to South Park: The Stick of Truth released in 2014. However, unlike that game, this one was created by an Ubisoft’s subsidiary.

South Park: The Fractured But Whole is another, after the 2014's South Park: The Stick of Truth, cRPG set in the universe of South Park, an iconic cartoon TV series for adults. In contrast to the previous title, which was developed by Obsidian Entertainment, a studio renowned among RPG fans, this game’s production was entrusted to Ubisoft San Francisco, the team behind a popular music game series, Rocksmith. The new developer invited the creators of South Park TV series – Trey Parker and Matt Stone – to contribute to the making of this game. The two gentlemen are responsible for the game’s script and dialogues.
PC, PS4 and etc. version of South Park: The Fractured But Whole was officially announced during Ubisoft’s E3 2015 media briefing. Same as the previous game, released for PC, Xbox 360, and PlayStation 3, The Fractured But Whole was designed for personal computers and the new generation of Microsoft and Sony's consoles, allowing the developers to spread their wings in terms of employed technology.
Story
The Fractured But Whole takes you once more into the eponymous town of South Park. Again you play as the New Kid, whose family moved in recently. This time Cartman’s gang impersonate Coon & Friends, a group of superheroes. Of course, the New Kid gets to join this elite social circle. Together with Mysterion, Toolshed, Human Kite, Mosquito, Mint Berry Crunch and other superheroes he takes on a new enemy – the dreadful Professor Chaos.
Gameplay
In terms of gameplay mechanics, South Park: The Fractured But Whole for PC, PS4 and etc. is not much different from its highly acclaimed predecessor. Hence, we get to deal with an unusual, for a South Park game, genre – cRPG featuring turn-based combat. You control the actions of the New Kid, and you are free to explore the city, do various missions, talk to characters you meet, and collect useful items. When it comes to the combat – similarly to classic cRPGs, characters attack in turns, each time dealing a specific number of damage. In combat your heroes employ an arsenal of weapons and superpowers, ranging from hilarious to absurd, which – as befits an RPG - can be developed as the game progresses.
Game modes
Just as South Park: The Stick of Truth – the previous game in the series – also the sequel is meant for single player only.
Technology
Released for PC, PS4 and etc. South Park: The Fractured But Whole is powered by the same game engine as the previous installment in the series. However, since the game was designed for the 8th generation consoles, the graphics has seen some minor improvements; No major changes were introduced to audio though. As previously, most characters are voiced by the fathers of South Park: Trey Parker and Matt Stone.
