The Terminator: Future Shock on PC DOS is another first-person action game from the series of video games based on The Terminator license developed by Bethesda Softworks.
Plot
The game is set in 2015, in which machines controlled by artificial intelligence, Skynet, took over the Earth. We play as a completely new hero rescued by the resistance movement from the death camp run by cyborgs. Our protagonist meets John Connor, the rebel leader, as well as young Kyle Rees, and joins the rebels in their quest to save humanity. It turns out that Skynet has developed a technique of time manipulation, which is represented by machines appearing "from nowhere". Our mission is to travel in time and stop Skynet.
Mechanics
The game is divided into missions preceded by detailed briefings, during which we can talk to some people and obtain useful information. During the game, we travel through a number of different locations, avoid radiation and fight against different types of mechanical enemies. We can use a dozen weapons, and from time to time, we also get the ability to drive an armed military jeep and a flying combat robot.
Technical aspects
The Terminator: Future Shock, released on PC DOS, represents a major step forward compared to the rather poor graphics of the previous games in this series. It is one of the first FPSs that offered a full three-dimensional and richly textured world and opponents. This is also the first game that gave players the option to look around freely with a mouse, a feature that was popularized by the iconic Quake released only a few months later.
