Assetto Corsa EVO Finally Showcased. 28 Screenshots Promise a Feast for the Eyes That May Surpass Forza and Gran Turismo
After years of waiting, Assetto Corsa 2 - finally named Assetto Corsa EVO - is finally clad in the flesh. The game has just received a card on Steam with the first screenshots, concrete information, and a release date.
So far, the prettiest racing games on the market were Gran Turismo 7, Forza Horizon 5, or (in some respects) Forza Motorsport - but it looks like the Kunos Simulazioni studio will challenge them with their latest title.
The game card for Assetto Corsa EVO, the full-fledged sequel to the simulation hit from 2014, has just appeared on Steam. It features 28 screenshots showcasing a few cars in detail, as well as multiple racetracks in different weather conditions - and it all looks remarkably impressive. Of course, it's better to hold off on further praise until the game is demonstrated in gameplay.
Regarding the game itself, the developer has only provided general information so far, confirming what could have been expected. Assetto Corsa EVO will focus on uncompromising realism, offering road and racing vehicles and routes from various eras of automotive history. Moreover, we can expect support for virtual reality right from the release, and this time without the issues that were caused by Assetto Corsa Competizione, as Kunos Simulazioni is reverting back to its own engine, moving away from the Unreal Engine.
Although the devs didn't say anything directly about mod support - the most important feature that ensured such a long life for the first installment - I cannot imagine it being absent. Even if it's not there from the beginning, it has to be added in the somewhat near future.
Speaking of the premiere - the release date on Steam is set for the fourth quarter of this year. We are talking about a debut in early access, as we know from previous announcements regarding this project. Console versions aren't in the picture for now, but the use of the adjective "multiplatform" in the Steam description isn't a coincidence, referring to the previous series installments.
