Beyond Good and Evil 2 Creative Director Emile Morel Passed Away
Beyond Good and Evil 2 has once again lost its creative director. Ubisoft employees have announced the death of Emile Morel, who had long been overseeing the game.
Beyond Good & Evil 2 has had no luck with developers. A long time ago from the team working on the game was left by Michael Ancel, the father of the series. Now Greg Hermittant (a producer at Ubisoft Montreal) has announced that Emile Morel, creative director of the second Beyond Good & Evil has passed away.
The news was conveyed by Hermittant in a post published on LinkedIn.
Morel has worked at Ubisoft since 2009 and has contributed to the development of such games as Rayman Legends (as lead designer) and Test Drive Unlimited 2. Earlier this year he replaced Jean-Marc Geffroy in the position of creative director of Beyond Good & Evil 2, having already been a member of the game's development team.
Officially, Ubisoft has not yet commented on these reports, although in addition to Hermittant, M. Gabriel Shrager said her goodbye to Morel (via LinkedIn), who now serves as the creative director on the team working on the sequel to Beyond Good & Evil (although this was not de facto confirmed until today).
Neither of them provided information regarding the cause of the creator's death. For what it's worth, they assured that they will continue his work and hope that, as Shrager put it. Beyond Good & Evil 2 will be released "in his name."
