Cities: Skylines 2 won't be released on consoles in October. Colossal Order Studio informed on the official Paradox Interactive forum about the status of work on the version of the game for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S (via X).

Unfortunately, the news isn't good: the studio has yet to achieve the level of optimization needed for smooth gameplay on Sony and Microsoft platforms. The team is "making slow but steady progress," but still hasn't resolved many performance issues.

Some consolation may be the fact that the team doesn't make us wait too long for further information about the release of CS 2 on PS5 and XSX/S. In August, the developers will take another look at the game's performance on consoles. If the title meets the required standards, the Colossal Order team can begin seeking the necessary certifications to launch Cities: Skylines 2 on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S.

If not... well, then we will have to wait even longer. Fans, who have slowly started to regain trust in the studio after recent updates, are by no means thrilled with this announcement. However, too many of them remember the debut of CS 2 on PC to rush the developers to release the game on PS5 and XSX/S as soon as possible.
