The RPG of the new Polish studio Rebel Wolves is likely to be called Dawnwalker: Origins. That's according to recently registered Internet domains.

In 2022, the industry heard news that Konrad Tomaszkiewicz, the director of The Witcher 3, is working on a new RPG at the newly founded studio Rebel Wolves. On the other hand, in November 2023 we reported that work on the studio's debut project is going according to plan, and the pre-production process has been completed.

Until now, however, little was known beyond that (we didn't even learn the title), as the developers are taking a very specific approach - they won't show the game until they have a playable build and several hours to show.

Recently, however the company has reserved two web domains - dawnwalkergame.com and dawnwalkeroriginsthegame.com. In addition, after checking the DAWNWALKER trademark, it appears that it was registered as early as 2021. This is the name that the studio's new brand is likely to bear. This was brought to the attention of, among others, X user known as Kurakasis, who conducted a a small investigation on the subject.

From the very beginning it is also known that the game will be the first part of the saga - hence the conclusions about the probable title Dawnwalker: Origins .

Dawnwalker is expected to be an RPG saga with big aspirations

From other sources available online, such as job advertisements or the devs' Linkedin profiles, one can glean a handful of details about their debut game.

  1. The developers have ambitions to revolutionize the genre and write about their game as "a brand new AAA RPG saga that will develop the genre and become a milestone in the history of role-playing games!" (source: job announcement).
  2. The game will operate in offline mode and will not offer microtransactions. For the developers, the story is key.
  3. All players are equal - the game will be released for both PC and next-gen consoles without any differences (no exclusive items or missions).
  4. The game will not be as big as The Witcher 3, but the number of quests is expected to be impressive even by the standards of Geralt's adventures. From the statements of Konrad Tomaszkiewicz, the game's director, it seems that size-wise the title will resemble the Blood and Wine DLC. You can find out more in the interview.
  5. The debut title is powered by Unreal Engine 5 and nearly 100 people are working on it. The studio is constantly developing and hiring new people. Currently, the title is in alpha stage.
  6. Developers have a lot of creative freedom, and for the company, work-life balance of its employees is also important. The developer wants to avoid crunches and rush; experience working on Cyberpunk 2077 taught them a lot. I recommend taking a look at the studio's LinkedIn feed - you can see that there is a good vibe in the company.
