Elden Ring Dev Delivers Bittersweet News About Shadow of the Erdtree
One of FromSoftware's developers was asked at the PlayStation Partner Awards gala about the Elden Ring DLC. The answer was ambiguous.
Two years have passed since the release of Elden Ring, and fans are still waiting for the Shadow of the Erdtree expansion, announced this February . Although there are many indications that work on it is already in the finishing stages, we still have not received a trailer or release date. However, some speculation is circulating on the web, and statements such as the one provided today by Yasuhiro Kitao during the gala presentation of PlayStation partner awards, only fuel the atmosphere.
Kitao, one of the producers of the game at the outset shared with reporters his impression of the number of players who have decided to reach for the game. He mentioned that the developers have no words to express their gratitude.
When will the DLC for Elden Ring be released?
The most important question was: "How is work on the DLC progressing?," to which Yasuhiro Kitao answered rather evasively:
"We will talk about the DLC another time. It will still take us some time, but progress is going well. Just as it was in Bloodborne, we are also working on new battles and characters. You can expect something new."
And that would be the end of the revelations, if it weren't for the fact that already on December 8, 2023 at 10:30 a.m. PST The Game Awards gala will launch. What does this mean? Well, all previous speculations regarding FromSoftware's release of a trailer for Shadow of the Erdtree indicated that it was at this event that the developers would show the trailer. Kitao's words "we'll talk some other time" may refer to this very gala.
In September, Geoff Keighley, the "face" of the TGA, posted on his X/Twitter account two photographs taken during a visit to FromSoftware. One of them shows him in the company of the developers. Fans say that such a visit clearly indicates that during the latest gala we will receive a trailer for Elden Ring's DLC. What lends credibility to this thesis, if I may add, is that another game from the developers - Armored Core 6: Fires of Rubicon - was announced just at this event in 2022.
