In 1997's Final Fantasy VII, locations played as important a role as characters. Apparently, it will be similar in the case of Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, which, unlike FF7 Remake, will provide us with an open world. Thanks to a short gameplay footage, we know it's going to be absolutely huge.

On X, which provides information about the FF7 universe, a short gameplay recording appeared, showing the world map. Although it wasn't shown in its entirety, this fragment already showed the large scale of the realm. Fortunately, you won't have to do it on foot, because in addition to using Chocobo, you will also be able to use the fast travel option, which was also shown in the video.

On the one hand, this may raise concerns that the open world will actually be empty and will not offer too many interesting locations, but the creators responsible for designing the environment were inspired by, among others, The Witcher 3, and their words show that they paid a lot of attention to preparing interesting areas.

For a more complete picture, here's a world map from Final Fantasy 7. The Rebirth presentation was in Japanese, so we don't have more details on that.

Final Fantasy VII Rebirth will be released on PS5 on February 29, 2024. The release date for PC is not yet known, but at the end of the trailer published yesterday, there's information that the game will be released on other platforms no earlier than May 29, 2024. So there's a possibility that PC gamers will play the title as early as June, but these are only assumptions for now. Finally, it is worth adding that journalist Jez Corden reported that he heard Final Fantasy VII Rebirth would also appear on Xbox consoles. Time will show if it will really come to that.
