Helldivers 2 is a cooperative third-person shooter that is a sequel to the well-received 2015 game Helldivers. The production has been quite popular with fans since its release, and as a result, it has also suffered from server connection issues on both PC and PS5. Ever since the release of Helldivers 2, players encounter a problem that prevents them from connecting to the server correctly. Despite many efforts by the developers to get rid of the issue, it still occurs, as evidenced by a recent message from a member of the Arrowhead studio, posted on the official Helldivers 2 Discord server:
If for any reason you get the “Failed to connect to server” issue it means that the maximum number of login requests for that particular minute is exceeded and/or that the servers are full and will require someone to log out before allowing new players in.
Initially, the problem was resolved during a last server maintenance, that increased the rate limiter, which is responsible for denying connections when they exceed a certain number per minute to prevent the entire system from crashing. It was increased from 10,000/min to 20,000/min, yet it only took a few moments for the message to start appearing again. All due to… the number of players. Even after the limit of concurrent players has been increased from 250,000 to 360,000, this value was not enough....
The good news is that thanks to the increase in the respective limits, connecting to the server should now be much easier and more accessible, but, if Helldivers 2 continues to be as popular as it has been until now, it is inevitable that you will still see this unpleasant message from time to time, at least until further fixes will be implemented.
