Hot Summer in One of the Most Popular MMORPGs; Trailer and Novelties in Final Fantasy XIV: Dawntrail
A new trailer for the upcoming Dawntrail expansion for Final Fantasy XIV has hit the web. It shows the new land and profession in action.
Fans of Final Fantasy XIV can count on a lot of new features that will soon be available in the game as part of the huge expansion called Dawntrail. To maintain the interest of players, the devs have published another video from the upcoming DLC.
Pictomancer and chinchilla in action
A five-minute full trailer of Dawntrail has been released. As is often the case with Square Enix, we are dealing with a beautiful, pre-rendered clip, which you can watch below.
The video shows spectacular clashes with opponents (including representatives of the Mamool Ja race) who will soon appear in Final Fantasy XIV. At one point, a charming chinchilla steals the scene, from which it is hard to look away.
You can also take a look at the new profession - Pictomancer. The biggest fans of the series probably remember that it has already appeared in earlier installments. This class uses a large brush for duels, which can be used to paint over opponents. It fights at a distance using skills and spells, but can also buff members of his party, which makes it a mix of two popular classes. The game's director, Naoki Yoshida, states that:
This is not a classic support profession, if that's what comes to mind, but it's also not fully focused on attack like the Black Mage.
As part of the game's expansion, another profession will be introduced, called Viper. By choosing it, we will become a deadly assassin wielding two blades. You can see a video presenting Viper here.
Dawntrail will enable us to play as a female Hrothgar. She appears at the end of the full trailer - Square Enix also published a short material focusing solely on the humanoid feline. It is worth noting that this is most likely not the last race to appear in Final Fantasy XIV. Naoki Yoshida "would like the female Hrothgar to be the last," but that will ultimately be up to the fans.
Dawntrail - other novelties
In Dawntrail we will come across the huge continent of Tural, where we will visit new cities: Tuliyollal and Solution Nine. Players will not be able to complain about boredom, as in addition to the aforementioned new professions and races, the expansion includes, among other things:
- increased maximum experience level from 90 to 100.
- introduces a new, friendly tribe of Moblins, dungeons, a series of raids, items and trials;
- changes to dye mechanics, thanks to which it will be possible to change more colors of equipment elements (even metal parts).
Additionally, the upcoming expansionwill significantly improve the graphics. This involves a change in the minimum requirements, which some fans did not like.

Release date and price
We still don't know the exact debut date of Dawntrail - Square Enix only states that it will be released in the summer of 2024. It will still be some time before we find out exactly when its premiere will take place. Developers don't want to make the same mistake as with the Endwalker expansion (via PC Gamer) and prefer to delay revealing a specific date rather than delay the expansion and disappoint the players.
We also don't know how much Dawntrail will cost. However, we can assume that the DLC will cost roughly as much as Endwalker.
Finally, it is worth mentioning that Square Enix boasted that a total of over 30 million people played FinalFantasy XIV (the title also performs well on Steam). This result may increase after the release of Dawntrail and update 6.55, which concludes the main story of Endwalker; the latter will be released on January 16 (via PCGamesN).
