With how contemporary, military FPS titles look right now in form of Battlefield games or Call of Duty series, it shouldn’t be a surprise that some fans are already tired of well-known mechanics. Looking for something more sophisticated, while still staying in the safe zone of this genre, comes Ready or Not – a spiritual successor to SWAT titles. Focused on more tactical and deliberate approach, it is a nice alternative for action packed, almost super-hero like titles mentioned before. As the game is warmly received by many players, we have to remember that it’s developed by an independent studio, thus it can be problematic at times. Some of the people trying to enjoy the game are encountering “Outgoing reliable buffer overflow” error. Here you will find an answer how to deal with it.

Fix for Outgoing Reliable Buffer Overflow error in Ready or Not

Outgoing Reliable Buffer Overflow is an error message that’s not new for Ready or Not fans. It has been seen already way back, in the Early Access stage of the game. It kicks players back to the main menu from the scenario they play. Would that mean that the developers have neglected this problem for such a long time? Not necessarily.

Everything shows that Reliable Buffer Overflow error is related to mods that are, or were, installed for the game. As amazing as they can be, they could pose a number of issues, like for example crashes, that we have already covered here.

The fix would be very similar as in already mentioned article:

  1. The first thing would be to check if all the people that you play with have the same mods installed. Also, it would be great if the mod version that you have is the same.
  2. Launch the game in safe mode. It should exclude all the modifications that have ever been installed in the game.

Launch options of Ready or Not. Make sure to try playing in Safe Mode before taking any further action.
  1. If Safe Mode doesn’t cut it, it would be recommended to delete all mod files manually (from readyornot/content/paks directory) and then trigger verification of game’s integrity.
  2. As a last resort, remove the game entirely and make sure to delete all of the remnant files and folders. With that done, reinstall the game.

Modding a game is often a great idea to prolong the fun that it can provide and a breath of fresh air. However, it is always messing with integral files necessary to run the title. It is a risk and requires a bit more technical knowledge to draw the most out of it. Have fun!
