Jagged Alliance 3 (JA3) - Luigi Choices and Fight Tips
Luigi and Boss Blaubert don’t like each other in JA3. It depends on you how this story ends.
Jagged Alliance 3 is full of unique characters. Some of them are there to help you, others will need your help. Many of them are connected to some kind of choice. This is also true in the case of Luigi, a stereotypical Italian mobster. Boss Blaubert wants to kill him. It is a great chance for you if you want to get the best melee weapon.
JA3 Luigi – meeting in Good Place
You can meet Luigi and Joseph (the owner of the best melee weapon in the game) for the first time in Good Place. We talk about the prison and Jackhammer choice in the separate article. You are welcome to read it. You may find the mobster here, even if you did not talk with Boss Blaubert. You can decide his fate. At this point there are only 2 options to finish the conversation:
- You aren’t going anywhere – picking this dialog will start a fight. It is an easy one, as there are only 2 enemies. Try to kill Joseph first. Luigi is quite fragile (low HP). If you decide to do that, you will be able to loot The Thing. However, Boss Blaubert will be not happy about that, but you will get $3 000.
- We’ll meet you in Rimville – Joseph and Luigi will go to Boss Blaubert and the rest of the story will take place there.
Jagged Alliance 3 – Luigi vs Boss Blaubert Choice and fight
After leaving Good Place, you can go to the mansion. You will be a witness of a standoff between two groups leading by Luigi and Boss Blaubert. Talk to them. You will have another choice to make.
Don’t involve us
If you want nothing to do with the drama, you may want to retreat, but both parties will not let you. If you pick this option, you will be attached by Luigi and Boss Blaubert. It is extremally difficult fight as there are many enemies against you. You should take 2 mercs squads.
To win this, before conversation, place your people on the roof of the mansion. It is the best place. Take also some mercs able to make long shots. Pick only one person with a lot of AP, to talk with Boss Blaubert, and run away with this soldier when you get a chance.
The rest of the fight should be quite straightforward. In the first turn kill enemies on the roof and a nearby grenadier (he can destroy the building). If someone comes too close, kill them with mercs who specialize in close quarters combat. You may also throw explosives at enemies, as they often will be grouped (especially at the beginning of the fight).
This decision is the best if you want to play a good merc, and at the same time recruit Smiley. You may meet him doing his dedicated quest. This soldier is an ex-boyfriend of Mollie. He does not understand that the girl does not love him and starts a fight against Boss Blaubert. While the mobster is not a saint, he is not at fault here and many players pick his side rather than Smiley’s (which ends with his death or return to Arulco). The only way to hire the merc is to help him. Killing the boss in this way (as he betrays you and attacks) is a lot better (roleplay wise) than an alternative. Mollie will still refuse Smiley, but your conscience will be cleaner and a free mercenary will join you.
As a reward, you will get a lot of loot, among it many valuables (Sapphires and Small Diamonds), equipment and The Thing, the best machete in Jagged Alliance 3.
We’re with Luigi
This option can very quickly become the same as “Don’t involve us”. It is because Luigi is quite fragile. His HP is not great. What is more, he is close to Blaubert and his people. The only way to keep Italian alive is to put around him some of your most resilient mercs and let them take attacks. It will be bloody business and you will get a lot of wounds (it is possible that someone will even die), but it is possible.
The rest of the strategy should be the same as in the case of fighting with both mobsters. Take positions at the roof of the mansion and shoot enemies from there.
When the fight ends, talk to Luigi once again, you will get The Thing and a magazine which adds bonus to Leadership. What is more, you will gain 20 Loyalty with Fleatown.
We will support you
You will help Boss Blaubert in this case. It is definitely the easiest option. Boss has a lot more HP than Luigi, so he is harder to kill. What is more, he has more people, and they are located in better places. On the other hand, if you are lucky and have a grenade, you may kill half of Luigi’s people with one throw.
Killing Luigi and Joseph will allow you to loot The Thing. After the fight go to the boss. Another decision awaits you:
- We’re partners then – you will get $3 000 and your mines will start to earn a little bit more. You will gain +30 loyalty with Fleatown (20 for helping the boss and 10 for accepting his offer).
- No thanks – you will get $10 000 and 20 Loyalty with Fleatown.
