The golden era of beat’em ups is long gone. That doesn’t mean, however, that there are no recent titles which build on this idea. Thanks to the increasing popularity of indie games and more accessible tools to create them, many devs decide to make productions that they care about, without looking at trends, being able to sate more niche parts of the market. Some of those games are even successful enough to receive a sequel.

Creators from Hunter Studio have just recently released the second part of Lost Castle, simply called Lost Castle 2. This title, featuring cartoon chibi-like characters, draws in many fans who would like to enjoy it with friends or close ones. Not via the online co-op mode, though, but in the traditional, local way. Is it possible in LC2? Let’s find out!

Local co-op in Lost Castle 2 explained

Many fans of beat’em up genre would argue that a game like that without local co-op mode cannot be great. Sadly, Lost Castle 2 does not offer this functionality… yet. We cannot forget the fact that the production just debuted in Early Access. This alone means that it is far from being feature complete.

The good news is that this topic has been raised by many players who would like to enjoy this title with their friends and families in a more personal fashion, simply by sitting next to them. This matter has been addressed by the developers in one of the responses on game’s Steam Community Hub. They have confirmed that local co-op is something that they are working on and will be available after the game is fully released and leaves EA stage.

The first title in this series, released back in 2016, does include this functionality so no wonder that the creators would like to have it in their newer production, too. We just have to be patient and wait for it, as it seems that they would like to focus on polishing and adding new features to the second instalment of Lost Castle.
