Microsoft Finalizes Activision Blizzard Acquisition for $69B; Xbox Acquires Call of Duty, Diablo and Warcraft
Microsoft did it: Activision Blizzard has officially become part of Xbox Game Studios, and with it such IPs as Diablo, Warcraft and Call of Duty.
CMS didn't keep us waiting long for its finaldecision. Microsoft has officially become the owner of Activision Blizzard (and King). The Redmond giant celebrated the event with a special video, available below.
The fact that the merger of the two companies will take place today, was mentioned by The Verge's sources as recently as last week. However, it was depending on the UK Competition and Markets Authority giving its approval or lack thereof. The CMA had already given preliminary approval for the deal in September, but was still gathering feedback from third parties on the largest acquisition in the history of the video game market until October 6.
We have already mentioned the merger many times, so it only falls to recall that with Activision Blizzard, Microsoft became the owner of such brands as Diablo, Warcraft, Candy Crush, StarCraft and above all Call of Duty.
