Norland - Coop and Multiplayer Explained
The medieval kingdom sim Norland promises challenging gameplay in a retro package. Will you be able to experience it in multiplayer? Find out here.
Norland is a RTS and simulator set in the middle ages, releasing on the 16th of May in Early Access. It tasks the player with building a medieval kingdom from ground up and managing all aspects of its life. The promise of complex stories differing every playthrough intrigued many fans, and some have been wondering if it would be possible to share the experience with friends in co-op. We have an answer from the developers themselves.
Norland - Coop and Multiplayer Explained
The upcoming kingdom simulator Norland puts us in charge of a medieval country and its people. There will be many factors at play, from societal tensions to the individual personalities of the royal family and the people. The player will take control over the country’s defences, politics and economy, both within the borders and on the international scene. Smart management will be of essence, since the end goal of the game is facing a worldwide crisis.
It sounds like Norland won’t leave us bored, but will it be possible to get a friend to help us to build the kingdom and survive an impending catastrophe in multiplayer? The question was addressed in the game’s FAQ, and some might be disappointed to hear that the answer was a resounding no.
Q: Will there be multiplayer?
A: No, multiplayer is not possible in this genre.
The devs make it clear that multiplayer is not something they’re considering. Since the team cites specifics of the genre as the reason to not add co-op, it is not likely that the decision would change, even if the game’s launch is a success. You can stay updated on Norland’s development on Steam.
