Star Wars Jedi: Survivor Got New Patches [Update: Patch 5 on PC]

Respawn is rolling out another, fourth patch for Star Wars Jedi: Survivor. It is expected to significantly improve performance on PC and fix the most common bugs found on all platforms.

Update: Patch 5

Respawn Entertainment studio announced today the availability for the PC version of the game of another patch, dubbed Patch 5 (it will hit consoles at an unspecified later date). The fixes are still centered around the game's performance and stability, but the developers also leaned in on a number of bugs spoiling gameplay. The full list of changes can be found here.

Original news (May 9)

Star Wars Jedi: Survivor continues to struggle with poor optimization, but the latest patch is expected to minimize this, as well as other problems plaguing the game.

4th patch for Jedi: Survivor - changes and new features

Fourth update for Star Wars Jedi: Survivor will provide a number of fixes. It is expected to address many of the PC version's optimization issues, while improving the overall condition of the game on consoles as well.

Console players will test the latest patch later today, while PC owners will get it later this week (exact date and time not announced)..

Changes on PC (exact release date unknown)

  • Performance of the game on PC in non-ray tracing mode will be improved.
  • Some visual effects that are not related to ray tracing will put less strain on the PC (this change will soon be made available on consoles).
  • Image stuttering, or sudden fps drops, will be minimized.

Changes on all platforms

  • Various bugs will be fixed, for example: with game state saves, streaming, scripting (preventing game progress), loud music in movie cutscenes or text scrolling.
  • Minor translation fixes be implemented, eliminating typos and inaccuracies.

What changes can we expect in the future?

The developers in the patch notes also included a description of known problems to be fixed in the future.

  • At the forefront is the overall improvement of the game's performance on PC (optimization and performance preservation), including correct use of Intel Core i7 and i9 series CPUs.
  • The developers are also looking at bugs reported by the community.

A full description of the update can be found on the game's official website.

Jedi: Survivor, or "the worst PC port of the year"

As you can see, the developers of Star Wars Jedi: Survivor are focusing entirely on improving the nightmarishly optimized PC version. The game's condition is so bad that the title has collected mostly negative reviews on Steam and received the title "the worst PC port of 2023". The developers have apologized for these shortcomings and, as can be seen from the description of the latest patch, are actively trying to work on improving the game's performance.

The issues are also being addressed by modders, who have successfully implemented DLSS 3 into the game, a feature that doubles the fps count. Currently, the modification is available in the testing phase (access on Patreon costs about $5), so a good option, given the poor condition of the PC version, is to play the game cheaper in the EA Play PRO service.

Star Wars Jedi: Survivor launched on April 28 for PC, PS5 and Xbox Series S/X.
