Successor to Iconic Colin McRae Rally Installments Gets Release Date. Old School Rally Devs Deleted Demo Because It's Outdated
We learned the release date of Old School Rally in early access - the heir to the first installments of the Colin McRae Rally series will make the pickle season more pleasant. By the way, the developer tried to calm the fears of players who didn't like the demo version.
Old School Rally covers a relatively short distance from the official announcement in early March to the release date announcement. This arcade rally game from the small, independent studio Frozen Lake Games, which refers to the first two installments of the cult Colin McRae Rally series, will be released on July 19 in early access on Steam.
For some people - including myself - the journey from excitement at the sight of the first video materials to disappointment with the demo version, which was released during the recent Steam Next Festival, was also quite short. The developer somewhat responded to the criticism, presenting improvements that we can expect when the Early Access phase starts.
Old School Rally will provide support for steering wheels, control sensitivity adjustment, ghosts, and route optimization at the beginning of early access. Furthermore, more features and content, such as cars or special stages, will be introduced through updates in the upcoming months.
Is this enough to convince skeptics to change their minds? We will find out in two weeks. Moreover, the mentioned demo has been removed from Steam because, as the developer argues, it has become outdated and no longer accurately reflects what Old School Rally is today.
