SunnySide is a Charming Farmer Simulator With RPG Elements
SunnySide is a promising game by RainyGames. The player will live in the title town, manage a farm and establish relationships with the local inhabitants.
If you dream of setting up a farm surrounded by nature in one of Japan's villages, then SunnySide will definitely appeal to you. However, the game by RainyGames is something more than just a farm simulator in the vein of Stardew Valley or Harvest Moon.
Nurture not only plants, but also relationships
What attracts attention in SunnySide, is the fact that while the game is intended to be a farming simulator, it actually fits into the basic premise of a dating sim pretty well.
As we read in the game's description on Steam, SunnySide will offer an extensive system of establishing relationships with other residents of the town.
"While a quiet life in the countryside is nice, life in SunnySide isn’t perfect. The locals have distinct personalities, stories, and issues which - through your decisions - can be uncovered. SunnySide has spent the last decade on a steady decline, but perhaps you’ll be the one to breathe new life into this desolate town."
A character creator that lets you be yourself
Staying on the topic of building relationships with others, it is worth mentioning the creation of our character. From what was presented on the game's website, the wizard will offer a lot of freedom in terms of choosing the appearance.
However, there's more. Players will also take care of the appearance of the house, outbuildings and decorations. They will even be able to personalize their virtual smartphone.
Technology doesn't scare the farmer!
In SunnySide we won't be running around with a hoe and shears to trim bushes, because we will receive various gifts of technology, such as:
- Solar panels,
- Electric water pumps,
- Food production machines.
As the creators say, the appropriate optimization of the player's farm work will help in further development and equipping the farm with more and more equipment.
The game will not lack crafting and personalized production of goods. As a result, we will be able to prepare cheese, soy sauce, tofu or flour, which will be ground in the local mill.
SunnySide on the horizon
The game by RainyGames is currently in alpha phase. This means, more or less, that until the release of the game, which is scheduled for the end of 2022, a lot can change.
On a positive note, however, SunnySide has found a publisher, which is Merge Games. This company has published such games as Spirit of the North, Sparklite or Vaporum. Thanks to this, the development of the game should accelerate a bit.
SunnySide promises to be extremely interesting, being something of a mix of games from the Persona series and farm simulators like Stardew Valley. RainyGames' upcoming work will be available on PC, PS5, Xbox Series, PS4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch.
