The Lord of the Rings: Return to Moria will soon enable the players to return to Middle-earth, though not yet on Xbox Series X/S.
Update
Another gameplay video has been released, this time a 13-minute footage from The Lords of the Rings: Return to Moria by IGN. We are posting it below:
Original post (August 23)
Survival game in the depths of Tolkien's Moria joins the October release frenzy. The Lord of the Rings: Return to Moria will debut on October 27 on PC (on the Epic Games Store) and PlayStation 5. Details are revealed in a press release made available by Free Range Games and publisher North Beach Games.
The release date given by the developers applies only to the digital version of the game. The developer is also preparing a boxed edition, albeit only for Sony's console. In addition, The Lord of the Rings: Return to Moria will be released on Xbox Series X/S. The exact date was not revealed, but the debut is scheduled for early 2024.
Along with this information came new footage from gamescom 2023, made available by IGN. It shows some gameplay footage, but it's mainly an interview with the developers, who revealed information about the eponymous mines, including various biomes, and the return of John Rhys-Davies in the role of the dwarf Gimli.
Return to Moria is not the only upcoming game from the universe of Lord of the Rings. Work is also underway on a new MMO from the Amazon Game Studios team, although so far the developers have shown absolutely nothing.
So for now, Tolkien fans will have to make dp with a dwarven survival game, which will hopefully perform better than the unfortunate adventure of Gollum from May. Especially since October will bring a lot of competition.
