Wildfrost Beginner’s Guide - Tips and Tricks

In this guide we will present you some Wildfrost tips. The game will be easier with us.

Wildfrost is a new card game, which takes place in the land of permanent winter. The last surviving human tribes send their best heroes to fight dangerous creatures and bring the sun back. It is quite difficult roguelike deckbuilder and you will die a lot. In this guide we will give you some basic tips.

Companions

  1. Companions are important – they are your main damage dealers. It is crucial to look for them on the map, when you have a chance. At the beginning you will have a limit of 3 allies at your side in your active deck, but you will be able to change it after defeating the first main boss.
  2. Retreat your companions – at any time you can hide your companions to your deck and heal them, just drag them to your discard stock. It is better than letting them to die. After their death companions will be weaker the next turn.
  3. Move your companions – you can move your allies between rows and in them. This action is free, so use it to finish some enemies or protect wounded warriors.
  4. You need a tank – it is important to have someone who will take some damage.

Upgrades

  1. Use crowns – a Crown is a special item which can be used on the card. It will guarantee that it will be used at the beginning of the fight with the leader. It is very useful as it gives you at least one-turn boost.
  2. You don’t have to use charms after getting it – charms are items which will give permanent perks to your cards. You can buy or find them. You can wait with equipping them for the better or more proper card. Remember that once you use it, you can’t give it to something/someone else.
  3. Strengthen proper characters – there are cards which will give you more attack, in the first place use them on characters which hit multiple targets or few times. Thanks to that you will get more power with the same move.

General

  1. Pick carefully your hero – in most cases you should pick a character with Barrage or with multiple hits.
  2. Use synergies – you can build some synergies during the game. For example, the most basic one is with the Snow. There are Companions who benefit from using it. Build your deck based on this and experiment.
  3. You will loose –you will develop your town with every death. Check it for upgrades and instructions what to do to get them. Get stronger with every failure.

Fights

  1. Opponents always attack first – it means that it is useful to use items which will shorten your attack counter, even when it is at 1. In the case, when enemies also have 1 turn left to attack, they will still hit you first, if you do not use it.
  2. Read opponents’ descriptions – it is extremally important to learn enemies’ abilities. It will hint you what you must do.
  3. Don’t forget about the bell – you can always get new cards thanks to the bell (right bottom corner of the screen). Every few turns it is a free action, in other cases you will lose the turn. Nevertheless, use it always if you don’t have anything useful to do.
  4. Don’t underestimate swords – swords are the basic and most common card (it gives 2 damage) for the first tribe. In most cases they are not extremally important, but they can be useful to finish off enemies with low HP or destroy some items on the battlefield. What is more, they can attack selected opponent.
  5. Watch out for reinforcement counter – remember that almost all fights have few waves of enemies. Plan your moves accordingly.
