Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth's First Patch Adds "Soft" And "Sharp" Performance Modes
The new patch will give you more control over how your game looks in Performance Mode.
Almost a month after its release, Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth has its first patch, which focuses on improving the game's graphics, as well as a handful of bug and stability fixes. Here's everything that's new in Version 1.020.
The game's Performance Mode, which prioritizes running the game at 60fps over graphical quality, now has the option of either a "soft" or "sharp" graphics mode. The soft quality of the graphics in Performance Mode were one of the main complaints players had about the game on release, with director Naoki Hamaguchi directly addressing the issue in an interview, mentioning that the fix would arrive in the next patch.
Also included in the patch notes are general improvements in this area, including "improvements to frame rate and overall game stability," and "improvements to graphical quality."
As well as the graphical updates, the new patch fixes a handful of bugs, and it makes some tweaks to gameplay. Notably, Red XIII gets a little buff, with the patch notes saying his abilities Supernal Fervor and Watcher's Spirit were too easily canceled in battle.
For players who use inverted camera controls, this option will now also be reflected in minigames, including chocobo gliding and sharpshooting, as well as during the main game.
