When Anthony Anderson was looking for someone to play his onscreen dad in his sitcom All About the Andersons, he knew exactly who he wanted: TV legend John Amos. The Emmy-nominated actor (who died in August 2024) was well known for roles such as Kunta Kinte in Roots and Good Times dad James Evans Sr. But for Anderson, the desire to cast Amos came from a more personal place, he says in the Oct. 29 episode of Black Comedy in America.

“John Amos reminded me of my dad,” he says in a clip from the Vice TV docuseries, which explores the Black comedic pioneers of film, television, and the standup scene. “And that’s why I cast John Amos as my father in my first show that I created, All About the Andersons.”

All About the Andersons premiered in 2003 and aired for one season on The WB.

Aimee Garcia will appear in multiple episodes, Deadline reports. The Lucifer star will be playing Dr. Julia Ochoa. She is one of the country’s leading neuropsychiatrists and is helping a high-profile patient as he recovers from an injury-induced brain trauma. She comes at the situation in a gentle way, which will clash with Luke’s more aggressive one. With Garcia in multiple episodes, we can’t help but wonder if sparks could fly between Luke and Julia and if that might mean some jealousy from Penelope Garcia (Kirsten Vangsness); their day may not have gone well but it doesn’t seem like the door is completely shut on a potential relationship.

Criminal Minds: Evolution is an expansion of the original CBS series which ran from 2005-2020. It’s the reunion that Hearties have been waiting for. Erin Krakow and Daniel Lissing, who starred together in five seasons of Hallmark Channel’s When Calls the Heart, are teaming up for a new Christmas movie, Hallmark Media announced at the TCA Winter Press Tour on Feb. 6.

‘Santa Tell Me’ will air on Hallmark Channel later in 2024

Lissing and Krakow will star in Santa Tell Me. The movie, which is currently in production, will air as part of 2024’s “Countdown to Christmas,” according to Variety.

After the movie was announced, Krakow took to Instagram to share the news.

“Hi. It’s been a minute,” she captioned a post that included a photo of her character Elizabeth looking coyly at Jack, played by Lissing.

Bright and early at 9:30 a.m. over at Paramount Studios in Hollywood, there was an Ugly Betty reunion with stars Ana Ortiz and Chris Gorham joining writers Brian Tannen, Gabrielle Stanton, Sheila Lawrence, Chris Black, Henry Myers, Cameron Litvack and Tracy Poust on the special picket.

Ugly Betty, based on the hit Spanish-language novela Betty La Fea, aired for four seasons from 2006 to 2010. America Ferrera portrayed the titular Betty Suarez, an unconventional beauty whose unique sense of style doesn’t preclude her from landing a gig at a top fashion magazine. The project was developed by Silvio Horta for ABC and also starred Mark Indelicato, Eric Mabius, Tony Plana, Becki Newton and Michael Urie.

Hallmark’s latest mystery movie will deliver twists, turns, and plenty of laughs, star Paul Campbell has promised. The Cases of Mystery Lane, which premieres March 19 on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries, stars Campbell and Aimee Garcia as a married couple who get caught up in a murder investigation. But even though the crime is serious, the movie will have a light touch, according to the actor.

Campbell is a Hallmark regular who’s starred in movies such as the humorous holiday flick Three Wise Men and a Baby. Fans can expect to see more of the Battlestar Galactica alum’s comedic side in his new mystery movie, Campbell said.

“This is, unequivocally, the most comedy I have brought to a role at Hallmark to date,” the actor tweeted on Jan.

Netflix is back with a new bag of holiday offerings to distract you from cooking and wrapping presents, and we’ve got the run-down of the best and worst, although this is an exceptionally good batch of Christmas movies. With that in mind, we’ve done our best to help you find what best suits your holiday vibe, so you know what to curl up with at the end of a long day spent trying to remember how to socialize after three winters’ worth of partying on Zoom.

In Netflix's new holiday rom-com "Christmas With You," Aimee Garcia plays Angelina, a Latin pop star dealing with career burnout who's tasked with writing the next "All I Want For Christmas Is You"-level holiday song. Garcia steps into the role of the singing-dancing extraordinaire so seamlessly that one might assume she's actually a pop star. So, is Aimee Garcia really singing in "Christmas With You"?

The answer is yes, and Garcia, who is not a trained singer - believe it or not - tells Popsugar taking on the role of an international pop sensation was "terrifying." While Garcia has some singing experience after recording a song for a season five musical episode of Netflix's "Lucifer," the role of Angelina presented a whole new challenge.

"Netflix had offered me this role in 'Christmas With You' because of the musical episode on 'Lucifer,' but I barely sang and danced [for that]," Garcia says.

Freddie Prinze Jr. says his latest project, a Netflix holiday rom-com co-starring Aimee Garcia, is one of the few times he’s gotten to play a character written explicitly as Latino.

In an interview with Yahoo Entertainment published Thursday, the Punky Brewster actor and Star Wars: Rebels voice star opened up about how limited his opportunities to play culturally specific characters in Hollywood have been across his nearly three-decade career.
