After leaving "The Bill" (1983), where he had been a cast member since late 2000, in August 2002, he has taken a few TV guest roles while focussing on theatre and his writing. Notable theatre work has included 'A Little Fantasy' with the Told by an Idiot Company and 'The Beauty Queen of Leenane' for Not the National Theatre Company. His first novel - 'The Gravedigger's Story' - was released on 8 April 2004.
