While the actual BAFTA film awards ceremony on Sunday may have been largely apolitical, the red carpet leading up to it was awash with political commentary.
“The Power of the Dog” star and BAFTA best actor nominee Benedict Cumberbatch, who attended the event with his wife Sophie Hunter, wore a badge depicting the Ukrainian flag.
Cumberbatch said the awards are “a celebration of an industry that’s about imagery, and images speaking as loud as if not louder sometimes than words. So it’s a small gesture,” the actor told BBC News.
“But away from this, what we all have to do is continue to put pressure on our politicians as far as the refugee crisis goes, continue to put pressure on the Putin regime, continue to help in any which way we can — whether that’s through donations or housing refugees, all of which I’m looking to do and have done.

We’re used to seeing Benedict Cumberbatch wearing a bold outfit in the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Doctor Stephen Strange, with his blue threads, red cloak and fabulous Infinity Stone accessory, but the British star proved he’s no slouch in the fashion department in real-life either at this week’s Met Gala.
The event encourages the best and brightest of Hollywood to be as attention-grabbing as possible with their dress sense and Cumberbatch definitely achieved that, at least going by the reaction on social media. Fans of the Sherlock and Avengers: Endgame star couldn’t get enough of Cumberbatch at the Met Gala, which he attended with his wife, Sophie Hunter. Or the real royal couple, as some were calling them.

If you don't have something nice to say, don't say it at all! Chrissy Teigen looked absolutely stunning at last night's 70th Primetime Emmy Awards, but leave it to trolls to body-shame her. The 32-year-old gave birth to her son, Miles, just four months ago, but that didn't stop people from wondering if she's expecting baby No. 3. "I'm asking this with the utmost respectful [sic], but is @chrissyteigen pregnant again?" someone rudely tweeted, to which Chrissy fired back, "I just had a baby but thank you for being soooo respectful." (Photo Credit: Twitter) Recently, the former Sports Illustrated model got real about motherhood — and her sex life with hubby John Legend. "It doesn't matter who you are — even if you're a sexy R&B crooner or an ex-swimsuit model — you're just tired," Chrissy told Women's Health. "We still have that passion for each other, but are we doing it randomly in a dressing room?...

Proving he’s every bit the hero off-screen, you may have heard the news that Benedict Cumberbatch last week leapt to the defense of a Deliveroo cyclist after he was attacked by four muggers in central London.
But in typically self-deprecating fashion, the actor, best known for his roles in Avengers: Infinity War and Sherlock, downplayed his actions, and insists he’s “not a hero” despite scaring off the perpetrators before they could inflict any serious, long-lasting damage.
Per The Sun, Cumberbatch revealed that he was travelling in an Uber with his wife, Sophie Hunter, when he noticed the altercation, at which point he began shouting “leave him alone.” That’s according to his taxi driver at the time, Manual Dias, who added that the “brave and selfless” Cumberbatch helped save the Deliveroo cyclist from nasty head injuries, as witnesses revealed that he’d been struck over the head with...

If you’re thinking of robbing someone, here’s a tip for you: first of all, don’t. Secondly, certainly don’t attempt it mere meters from where a renowned crime fighter spends large amounts of his time. But these handy tips are too little, too late for the four muggers who jumped a Deliveroo driver, only to come a cropper when Avengers: Infinity War star Benedict Cumberbatch intervened.
When the four assailants struck the delivery cyclist over the head with a bottle, Doctor Strange himself materialized from within a time portal (taxi) and cast the Bolts of Bedevilment spell (shouted loudly to “leave him alone”), dodged the villains’ punches (for real) and chased them from the scene. Speaking to The Sun, the sometimes Stephen Strange said, “I did it out of, well, I had to, you know.”

On Thursday's Tonight Show, Benedict Cumberbatch proved two things: He's an incredible actor even when he's speaking total gibberish, and Mad Libs are still just as funny as they used to be when you were a kid.

After having Cumberbatch list off random words in traditional Mad Libs style, they were quickly used to fill in the blanks in dialogue for a scene the English thespian had no prior knowledge of.
