Elli is a copyright expert and entertainment lawyer. She has provided legal services and supported major film, television and other national and international audiovisual productions realized in Greece the last 25 years.
Elli holds a Master of laws from the University of Cambridge in Intellectual Property Law, the Law and Policies of the European Union, European Competition Law and International Commercial Litigation. She also studied law at the University of Athens and Strasbourg/Robert Schuman University. She is accredited at the Supreme Court.
She started her career working as legal consultant at the European institutions in Brussels, Belgium (Commission and Parliament).
She founded her own "boutique" law firm in Athens, Greece in 1999 and developed an international clientele in the areas of her expertise. She has been commissioned multiple times as a regulatory consultant of the European Commission, the OECD and the World Bank in projects targeting the enhancement of the business environment in Greece. Elli acts as local legal and regulatory counsel of international stakeholders' organizations and many Greek, European and US clients which she represents during public consultations and reviews of legislation transposing in Greece the EU law on Copyright and Media policies. She has also represented individual prominent authors and scientists. She has in-depth knowledge and litigation experience in collective rights management and anti-piracy.
Her firm, Elli Filippopoulou and Associates offers a wide variety of specialized services in the fields of audiovisual production and distribution, copyright, entertainment, advertising, publishing, software and media law as well as advice on Greek and European production and distribution incentives.
Elli is member of the IPR Committee of the American-Hellenic Chamber of Commerce, Board member of the Hellenic-American Educational Foundation (Athens College) and honorary member of the welfare umbrella organization for suffering and disabled children in Greece (Mazi gia to Paidi). She has published numerous articles in local and international law reviews. Elli speaks Greek, English, French, Italian.
