Written by, Honee Alipio, the film tells the story of Muslim woman Saima Datupalo (Judy Ann Santos). While taking care of her cancer-stricken daughter named Aisa Datupalo (Yuna Tangog) in a temporary home for children with cancer called the House of Hope in Davao, her soldier husband Malang Datupalo (Allen Dizon), a combat medic, is an offensive operation in Maguindanao.

In her speech after she and her co-star Allen Dizon won Best Actress and Best Actor in a Leading role respectively at the Metro Manila Film Festival (2019), she thanked Director Brillante Mendoza and jokingly remarked that with the cash prize they will be receiving (P200,000) they would already do better than breaking even. The film was pulled out of the cinemas because of low box office returns but has since received numerous recognitions locally and internationally.
