Suits alum Patrick J. Adams and Grey’s Anatomy grad Jerrika Hinton are the latest cast additions to Accused Season 2 on Fox, TVLine has learned exclusively.
Based on the BBC’s BAFTA Award-winning crime anthology and developed by Howard Gordon, Fox’s Accused each season serves up collection of topical and human stories of crime and punishment. 23 years into his film career, Tom Hardy is still impossible to pin down. Is he a leading man? A full-on movie star? A character actor? Would he be perfectly happy to just make Venom movies until he retires?
Here's what we do know about Hardy: he's handsome, he loves trying on weird accents (which we ranked here at /Film), and he commits fully to every role whether it's a prestige picture or a superhero flick. Critics dig him (even if they do not dig the "Venom" movies at all), and he's tremendously respected by his fellow actors. He's one of the best we've got. But it's been 16 years since his breakthrough bravura performance in Nicolas Winding Refn's "Bronson," and, for whatever reason, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences' membership has only managed to nominate him for one measly Oscar.
What gives?

As the well-known saying goes, another Tom Hardy movie, another comically offbeat voice. In Jeff Nichols' beautiful Austin Butler drama "The Bikeriders," Hardy plays Johnny, leader of Chicago motorcycle club the Vandals — and this being a midwestern biker movie, you better believe there's yet another weirdo Hardy accent involved. Speaking to Variety about the film, the British star said, "One of the things that I hold myself to, as a principle, is that you've got to make an effort to create a vocal silhouette, as well as the physical silhouette." In "The Bikeriders" it's not just Hardy that provides an intriguing vocal silhouette (Jodie Comer affects a captivating mix of Chicago and Wisconsin accents), but he surely has the most unconventional and endearingly idiosyncratic take on the midwestern accent.
Of course, this is hardly the first time Mr. Hardy has treated us all to a unique vocal performance. The man...

Tom Hardy has made his name as one of the most intense actors that people love watching on screen. The actor’s method approach to his roles and his insistence on going deep into the skin of a character has led to some high-brow performances in Bronson, The Dark Knight Rises, The Revenant, and Capone where he became almost unrecognizable.
Tom Hardy as John S. Fitzgerald in The Revenant | 20th Century Fox
Hardy is also infamous for his uncanny and weird accent choices in some of his films that people have found to be hard to understand. He did the same for his upcoming film The Bikeriders, attempting a Midwestern accent. In addition to wanting to play against expectations with his character, he was also not really concerned about authentically replicating a certain dialect.

Fans speculated that there was tension between Tom Hardy and Shia Labeouf during the filming of Lawless, a sentiment echoed by the director who sensed something was off. However, despite these rumors, the 2012 film was a success and received strong reviews. Years later, in a 2019 interview with Sean Evans, while munching down some pretty hot wings, Shia Labeouf finally revealed the truth about what happened behind the scenes. Tom Hardy’s sweet words towards his co-star also squashed the beef even further.

Sam Taylor-Johnson’s upcoming Amy Winehouse biopic “Back to Black” may have access to the late singer’s globally recognized back catalog, but another legendary musician is lending his talents to the project.
Nick Cave, alongside his long-time collaborator Warren Ellis, is scoring the StudioCanal and Focus Features film, which sees “Industry” star Marisa Abela play Winehouse. Abela is joined by a cast including Jack O’Connell (playing Blake Fielder-Civil), Eddie Marsan (Mitch Winehouse), Juliet Cowan (Janis Winehouse) and Lesley Manville.
Variety has been given an exclusive photo taken of Cave, Ellis and Taylor-Johnson recording in the studio earlier this week.
While Winehouse’s own songs, such as “Back to Black” (which featured in the recent trailer), “Valerie” and “Rehab” will undoubtedly take center stage in the film (with most recorded and performed by Abela), Cave and Ellis are understood to have composed about 20-30 minutes of music.

Sometimes, a cinematographer works enough with an actor that when they’re set to do their directorial debut, that actor is in. That seems to be the case with “Mother’s Instinct,” the directorial debut of well-renowned French Dp Benoît Delhomme. Known for films like Anton Corbijn’s “A Most Wanted Man” and Julian Schnabel’s “At Eternity’s Gate,” he’s also worked with Jessica Chastain a few times on “Lawless,” “Wild Salome,” and some photography work he did for Terrence Malick’s “Tree Of Life.” So perhaps the favor extends to starring in “Mother’s Instinct,” Delhomme’s directorial debut, which will arrive later this year via Neon.

There’s a lot to watch on Prime Video in October and, as you may have guessed, there’s spooky stuff galore in amongst Prime’s usual rotation of extensive library content.
In the movie Totally Killer, Chilling Adventures of Sabrina star Kiernan Shipka travels back in time to the 1980s to stop a serial killer. Then there’s Make Me Scream, a Halloween special that challenges celebrities to “a gruesome game of terror.” Renfield will also be streaming on the service for anyone who’s been dying (muahahaha!) to catch the Nic Cage Dracula film.
Outside of Prime Video’s more creepy fare, Shazam! Fury Of The Gods will debut, Upload will be back for a third season, and new film Awareness should scratch your sci-fi itch. Meanwhile, for Frasier heads – those who consider themselves utterly Frasier-pilled – all eleven seasons of the Cheers spinoff show will be streaming at the touch of a button.

Who doesn’t love watching a series that tells the true-life (or at least somewhat true-life) stories of real people? That’s what HBO’s hit series “Winning Time: The Rise of the Lakers Dynasty” provides for NBA fans, Angelenos and TV viewers alike.
“Winning Time” doesn’t feature any of the real-life people that the series depicts, though some of the actors bear striking resemblances to their counterparts.
The show has a massive cast, with Quincy Isaiah (Earvin “Magic” Johnson”), John C. Reilly (Jerry Buss), Adrien Brody (Pat Riley) and others taking center stage as leads. There were also newcomers who stepped onto the court as guest stars for the second season, included Joel Allen as Kurt Rambis, Jay Davis as Byron Scott, Quentin Shropshire as James Worthy, Matthew Barnes as Mitch Kupchak, Darryl Reynolds as Robert Parish, Andrew Stephens as Kevin McHale and Larry C. Fields III as Eddie Jordan.

Jessica Chastain is not easily shaken. She faces her fears and whittles them down to something she can handle. And takes a shot of whiskey if need be. She landed an Oscar for daring to become the mascara-loving title character in “The Eyes of Tammy Faye.” Actors understood that she had to love the outlandish TV evangelist, who was a joke in many quarters, in order to understand her.
And the same is true of Tammy Wynette. However, “George & Tammy” (Showtime) presented another order of high-diving-board difficulty. It was one thing to sing like Tammy Faye. It was another to take on live-performing, opposite musician-actor Michael Shannon as country icon George Jones, as an all-too-familiar country superstar.
That was never the plan. Chastain was first approached back in 2011 at the Golden Globes by Josh Brolin, who was developing the story of Jones and Wynette. “I had never been in...

Actor Tom Hardy had the opportunity to work alongside one of his idols Gary Oldman in The Dark Knight Rises. But he joked that playing the villainous Bane helped curb Hardy’s intense admiration for The Professional star.

Many comic fans probably know Ed Brubaker as the man who created the Winter Soldier, reinventing long-dead sidekick Bucky Barnes. Brubaker is much more than a one-trick pony, though. He got his start writing crime comics and, after a self-imposed exile from Big Two superhero comics, he's made that his full-time gig.
He and Sean Phillips have become an inseparable writer-artist pair, putting out regular graphic novels and mini-series that always find a new way to tell Noir stories. For my money, Brubaker and Phillips' books are some of the best American comics being made right now.
"Fatale" was about a seductress whose allure is literally supernatural, while "Pulp" is about a former gunslinger who pawns off embellished versions of his escapades in early 20th-century magazines. Their definite project, though, is "Criminal," an anthology series about, well, criminals who live in the fictional Center City. Each volume tells a different story,...

The Cherokee Nation Film Office has announced Echota Killsnight as its first television apprentice.
In fulfilling the new position, Killsnight learned firsthand from award-winning director John Hillcoat while working on the set of the biopic television series George and Tammy. The limited series, which chronicles the life and marriage of country music legends Tammy Wynette and George Jones, premieres on Showtime and the Paramount Network on Sunday, Dec. 4.
“As artists and filmmakers, I have always believed that the most incredible privilege that even a modicum of success affords us is the ability to hold the ‘door’ open for those who decide to walk this path. I have remained forever thankful to those filmmakers who have helped me on my journey,” said Hillcoat. “Cnfo graciously provided me the opportunity to fulfill this obligation to upcoming talent when I had the pleasure and privilege of mentoring Echota. Plot: The six-part limited series George & Tammy chronicles the country music power couple, Tammy Wynette and George Jones, whose complicated-but-enduring relationship inspired some of the most iconic music of all time.
Review: In the annals of country music, there are few names that are as iconic as George Jones and Tammy Wynette. While Johnny Cash and Loretta Lynn get the big screen treatment in Oscar-worthy biopics, the surge in limited series programming across streaming platforms has provided a new medium to tell complex stories about artists whose lives cannot be condensed into a two-hour movie. "We just gotta hold on…" "That's right." Showtime has debuted an official trailer for a new mini-series titled George & Tammy, arriving for streaming this December. All the episodes are directed by filmmaker John Hillcoat, the latest movie director to move into TV. It's based on the book "The Three of Us: Growing Up with Tammy and George" by Georgette Jones, telling the true story of these two musicians. The series is a look at the "complicated-but-enduring relationship" between famed country musicians George Jones and Tammy Wynette, as played by the very talented actors Michael Shannon and Jessica Chastain. "But as in every fairy tale, dark forces were just around the corner. Her parents fought, and George drank. George and Tammy divorced when Georgette was four, and it would be years before she understood just what that meant…" The series also features Steve Zahn, Kelly McCormack, Katy Mixon, Hendrix Yance,...

The winter television awards season – and next year’s Emmys race – was given a jolt on Thursday night with news that Showtime will air the limited series “George & Tammy” with Oscar-winning actress Jessica Chastain and Oscar nominee Michael Shannon in starring roles starting on December 4.
Chastain, who won Best Actress at this year’s Oscars for playing Tammy Faye Bakker, stars as another famous Tammy in the series: country music star Tammy Wynette. Shannon, meanwhile, plays George Jones, who was married to Wynette for six years. Per a logline provided by Showtime, “George & Tammy” “chronicles the country music power couple, Tammy Wynette and George Jones, whose complicated-but-enduring relationship inspired some of the most iconic music of all time. Two weeks of the 2022-23 TV season, traditional Nielsen ratings for entertainment programming have continued on their years-long downward trend. Aside from a couple of NFL games, no primetime show in premiere week hit 10 million viewers, even with a week of delayed viewing.
There is, however, evidence that viewers are still finding network series, as a handful of streaming numbers indicate. ABC’s Abbott Elementary climbed from 2.92 million viewers for its on-air premiere to 7 million after a week across all platforms — with 2.7 million of those viewers coming via streaming and digital platforms. The network’s drama The Rookie went from 3.36 million same-day viewers to 8.2 million after a week of multi-platform viewing. The adults 18-49 ratings for both shows also more than tripled.
Numbers like that give Simran Sethi, executive vp programming and content strategy at ABC Entertainment, optimism about the state of the business.

Harvey Weinstein failed today to get his Los Angeles trial on multiple sex crimes pushed back over an upcoming festival premiere and fall wide release of a movie about the investigation into his decades of abuse and sexual assaults.
In a downtown pre-trial hearing Monday morning, Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Lisa Lench rejected a move by the defense to delay the incarcerated producer’s October trial start over the Maria Schrader-directed She Said. In a somewhat ironic scenario, the architect of the modern cutthroat awards campaign claimed that the marketing and publicity of the film based on the acclaimed journalism of The New York Times’ Jodi Kantor and Megan Twohey would prejudice any City of Angels jury against him.
Lench wasn’t buying it, and she put pedal to the metal for the commencement of jury selection on October 10.

CAA Media Finance will represent this film’s worldwide rights with Hillcoat producing with Jonathan Pavesi through Blank Films Inc.
The movie is set in an exclusive gated community in the desert on the outskirts of Los Angeles where thirty-two adults, all brilliant, successful professionals, who have built their homes with pride, are brutally murdered, and their children abducted with not so much as a trace. A Forensic Psychologist is enlisted to delve into the circumstances of this heinous crime. As their investigation continues and they dig deeper into the events, they soon runs into conflict with their superiors as their suspicions fall on a very different kind of community – a religious cult, invoking memories of the Branch Davidians and their charismatic leader, David Koresh.

While measuring the success of broadcast series has largely been a job for the TV ratings among the advertiser-coveted adults 18-49 demographic, that total viewer tally is still powerful and not to be ignored.
With the end of the 2021-2022 season fast approaching, Variety has looked at 33 weeks of complete Nielsen data from September to May to assess what the most and least-watched primetime scripted series have been across NBC, ABC, CBS and Fox.
The below total viewer averages are season-long for each show and include persons over the age of 2, which is what Nielsen counts as a viewer. The totals are based on Nielsen’s “most current” data stream through May 8, which includes a week’s worth of delayed viewing where available.
For the “most” list, it is ranked beginning with the top show. For the “least” list, it starts with the weakest in the top slot and goes up from there.

March 2022 is a great month for blonde women with cold, dead stares on Hulu.
With its list of new releases for March 2022, Hulu is highlighting two major original series ripped straight from the headlines. The first is The Dropout, which premieres on March 3. This show stars Amanda Seyfried (taking over from the previously cast Kate McKinnon) as Theranos founder Elizabeth Holmes. This story about high-level corporate fraud is truly wild, enough so to accommodate several books, podcasts, and even an upcoming film starring Jennifer Lawrence. Hulu is certainly hoping its version is the definitive one.

Look, not every month is gonna be full of bangers. Amazon Prime Video’s list of new releases for March 2022 is extremely light but still has a couple of good options for streaming obsessives.
The biggest title this month is undoubtedly The Boys Presents: Diabolical on March 4. This series presents eight different stories set in The Boys‘ universe, all offered up by different writers. Since each of the eight mini-episodes are animated, it’s probably fair to say this is The Boys‘ Animatrix. Call it the “Anivought”.

With a new month upon us, that means Netflix is saying farewell to some favorite films in their library for the time being. And this month, there’s an unusual amount of good movies leaving Netflix. If you’re wondering what to watch before it’s gone, we’ve got a handy guide.
Fans of period dramas and family films, in particular, may find themselves with a lot to catch up on before it leaves Netflix. In the former category, films like “Howard’s End,” “Lawless,” “A River Runs Through It,” “Bright Star,” and “Braveheart” are all expiring in March.
But the Kids and Family section is taking a particularly big hit this month. Animated departures include “Kung Fu Panda,” “Despicable Me” and “Despicable Me 2,” “Happy Feet Two,” a handful of “Pokemon!” movies and series, and meme culture favorite “Bee Movie.” There are also several live-action family classics leaving Netflix in March as well,...

Nick Cave paid tribute to his friend and occasional collaborator, Mark Lanegan, in his Red Hand Files newsletter. Lanegan, who fronted Screaming Trees before embarking on a solo career, died Tuesday at the age of 57.
“I encountered Mark many times over the years — we engaged in some extremely dubious escapades back in the Nineties; he sang ‘White Light/White Heat’ and ‘Fire and Brimstone’ with Warren [Ellis] and me on the Lawless soundtrack; he recorded my favorite ever Nick Cave cover — an astonishing version of ‘Brompton Oratory’; we did something together...

Now in its eighth year, the Berlinale Series Market’s pitching event, Co-Pro Series, wrapped today after two hours of pitches from 10 of Europe’s most exciting independent TV projects. Match Factory Production’s “The Report” was the day’s big winner, scooping the Series Mania Award, meaning the production’s team will be invited to pitch again at next month’s Lille-based get-together.
“The Report” will look to emulate the successes of former participating Co-Pro Series standouts such as “Babylon Berlin,” “Freud,” “Furia,” and perhaps most especially Icelandic period drama “Blackport,” a former Series Mania Award-winner that last year took the French festival’s top prize when it returned as a finished series.
A major move from Germany’s Match Factory Productions, “The Report” marks one of the legendary film company’s first forays into series production.

One of the highlights of the Berlinale Series Market is the pitch event Co-Pro Series, which looks to match projects with suitable co-producers and financiers.
Ten international series projects from Europe, Canada and Latin America have been selected to pitch at this year’s Co-Pro Series, where they will also have the opportunity of meeting one-on-one with potential partners.
Taking place over two days (Feb. 15-16), and held online once again due to the pandemic, Co-Pro Series has a track record of showcasing drama projects that have not only gone on to be produced, but that have also achieved success.
International hit “Babylon Berlin,” Austrian-German crime series “Freud,” Norwegian-German domestic terrorism drama “Furia,” Icelandic thriller “Blackport” and 1920s-set German drama “Eldorado KaDeWe” have all participated in previous Co-Pro Series pitches. In total, 19 projects have been made since the event launched in 2015.

Before anyone played a note of music at the seventh annual John Henry’s Friends Benefit at New York’s Town Hall, host and organizer Steve Earle walked onto the stage, beaming with excitement and anticipation. “This is going to be good,” he said. “I’ve asked friends to do this every year, but the bar is going to be high from here on out.”
That would have been true even if the bill for the night included just his longtime backing band the Dukes plus Rosanne Cash, Willie Nile,...
