The fan project has had major problems with YouTube's copyright and COPPA bots within only a week of it being uploaded. The video was first copyright blocked by Paramount/Viacom within two hours of its upload, causing many supporters of the project to express their rage against Paramount/Viacom for their infamous copyright system despite the video being within fair use. The hashtag, "#Justiceforspongebob", trended worldwide on Twitter following the blocking. Later that same day, Paramount had lifted the copyright claim from YouTube. On May 5, 2022, the video was flagged as a "Made for Kids" video by the YouTube Bots, with YouTube deeming it as a "Kids" video solely for it being about SpongeBob. The video was blocked by Paramount/Viacom again a couple of hours afterward.
In April of 2020, the management for this project had an up-haul and new people took over the project.
The Parrot was the only character to include voice recordings (played by the creator Stephen Hillenburg) from the original movie.
Four major characters of the SpongeBob franchise are played by two different people. Mr Krabs was going to be played by a different voice actor but due to complications TheGonzFam took over instead, making Doubletime32 and TheGonzFam all of the actors of SpongeBob, Patrick, Squidward and Mr Krabs.
Lots of other characters outside of SpongeBob SquarePants make appearances in the background like Mickey Mouse and Sonic the Hedgehog.
