The Off Broadway world premiere of the new Robert O’Hara play Shit. Meet. Fan. will feature a cast headed by Garret Dillahunt, Billy Magnussen and Debra Messing, McC Theater announced today.

The play, which will also star Tramell Tillman and Constance Wu, begins previews Thursday October 10, at McC Theater’s Newman Mills Theater, with an opening night on Monday October 28. The limited engagement runs through Sunday November 17.

O’Hara will direct his play, which is based on Paolo Genovese’s 2016 Italian comedy-drama Perfect Strangers. The movie holds the Guinness record for most remade film in cinema history, with more than 24 remakes in different languages.

Also in the cast will be Genevieve Hannelius, most recently seen in the Netflix original film Along for the Ride and the Netflix original series American Vandal. She is perhaps best known for starring on the three-time Emmy-nominated Disney Channel series Dog with a Blog.

Maia Mitchell, Belmont Cameli and Peter Stormare have joined the cast of Until Dawn, Sony’s Screen Gems and PlayStation Productions’ feature adaptation of the hit horror video game.

Mitchell, Cameli and Stormare join Ella Rubin, Michael Cimino, Ji-young Yoo and Odessa A’zion on the call sheet for the production, which begins shooting in mid-August.

David F. Sandberg, who last directed Shazam! Fury of the Gods, is returning to the horror genre with the project and is reuniting with his Annabelle: Creation writer-producer Gary Dauberman on it.

Dauberman, who has a first-look deal with the studio, wrote the most recent draft of the script and is producing under his Coin Operated banner with Mia Maniscalco, alongside Sandberg and his Mångata partner Lotta Losten. Early responses are beginning to come in regarding the details of the Directors Guild of America’s deal with studios and streamers, which were revealed on Wednesday night.

Amid a Writers Guild of America strike, and as performers’ union SAG-AFTRA negotiates with entertainment companies represented by the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers following its own strike authorization, the DGA reached a tentative pact it called “historic.” Some of its members aren’t so sure.

During a Zoom meeting to explain the deal to membership on Thursday, DGA leadership justified the timing of the pact, struck on June 3. “We went as late as one could go within our window” and negotiated for one day later than planned, one guild executive told The Hollywood Reporter, seemingly addressing criticism that the DGA pulled the trigger too quickly rather than holding out for more leverage.

Billed by Carpenter as being the “soundtrack to the final showdown,” the Halloween Ends Original Motion Picture Soundtrack will release Digitally on October 14, 2022.

The soundtrack will later release physically on January 20, 2023.

Long-running indie duo Beach House — who released the sprawling 18-song double album, ‘Once Twice Melody,’ just a few weeks ago — are making their film-scoring debut with Netflix’s “Along for the Ride,” which is described in the announcement as “a sweet summer film based on the popular YA book by New York Times bestselling author Sarah Dessen.” The film arrives on Netflix on Friday.

Written and directed by Sofia Alvarez (who wrote the screenplay for both “To All the Boys I’ve Love Before” and its sequel), “Along for the Ride” tells the story of Auden (Emma Pasarow), who’s decided to spend her last summer before college in picturesque Colby Beach, according to the synopsis. While other teens party in the sun, loner Auden spends her time roaming the streets after everyone else is asleep. Everything changes when she meets Eli (Belmont Cameli), a charming and mysterious fellow insomniac.

Exclusive: Orlando Bloom (Carnival Row) and Andie MacDowell (Maid) have signed on to star in Red Right Hand, an upcoming action-thriller from directors Ian and Eshom Nelms (Fatman).

The film written by Jonathan Easley centers on Cash (Bloom), who is trying to live an honest and quiet life, taking care of his niece Savannah in the Appalachian hills of Odim County. When the sadistic Queenpin Big Cat (MacDowell) who runs the town forces him back into her services, Cash learns he’s capable of anything—even killing—to protect the town and the only family he has left. As the journey gets harder, Cash is drawn into a nightmare that blurs the lines between good and evil.

Netflix dropped a first-look trailer for the young adult book to movie adaptation, which stars newcomers as well as old familiar faces.

“I never really had a chance to be a kid,” says Auden (Emma Pasarow) in the opening sequence. “I spent most of my time in my mom’s world.”

After splitting time between divorced parents and living mostly with her mom, Auden is going to spend her last summer before college with her dad and his new wife in the small beach town of Colby. Netflix is adapting Sarah Dessen's New York Times bestseller "Along For the Ride." Starring Emma Pasarow and Belmont Cameli, the Sofia Alvarez-directed film centers around Pasarow's character, Auden, who meets the mysterious Eli (Cameli) the summer before going off to college. The two quickly form a bond through their shared insomnia, exploring the town of Colby under the cover of night.

A few movies made their grand debuts in January, and quite a few more are set to launch at the beginning of this month, but the streaming service is touting its 2022 slate with new movies every week and a robust lineup of actors and filmmakers.

Standout tiles include Shawn Levy’s time-traveling tale, “The Adam Project,” with a cast led by Ryan Reynolds, Mark Ruffalo, Jennifer Garner and Zoe Saldaña, as well as a new adaptation of Jane Austen’s “Persuasion,” starring Dakota Johnson and Henry Golding. Regina King will embody trailblazing politician Shirley Chisholm in a biopic titled “Shirley.” Stop-motion and horror maestros Henry Selick and Jordan Peele are teaming up for the animated pic “Wendell & Wild.” “The Gray Man” stars both Ryan Gosling and Chris Evans in a CIA/spy/global manhunt film alongside Ana de Armas.

After seven plus years on the air, Black-ish is saying goodbye. The ABC series will wrap the show with its eighth season in 2022, and just like us, the cast is sad to see it all come to an end. Exclusive: Dermot Mulroney (Hanna) and singer Justin Furstenfeld have joined Dolph Lundgren, Scott Adkins, and Ryan Kwanten in action movie Section Eight, which The Exchange will be selling at the virtual American Film Market.

The movie charts the story of a former soldier who, after avenging the murder of his family, is sprung from prison and recruited by a shadowy government agency.

Furstenfeld, who is making his acting debut on the movie, is best known as the frontman of U.S. band Blue October. My Best Friend’s Wedding star Mulroney is currently starring in Netflix’s Along For The Ride and Agent Game with Mel Gibson.

An original screenplay by Chad Law and Josh Ridgway, Section Eight is being directed by Christian Sesma (Pay Dirt) and produced by Brandon Burrows of Firebrand. Pic is in post-production.

“It is exciting to have such a talented and dynamic actor like Dermot Mulroney joining our project.

Dermot Mulroney is set to star in the upcoming indie thriller “Breakwater.”

The veteran actor, of “My Best Friend’s Wedding” and “August: Osage County” fame, will team with writer-director James Rowe on the feature.

“Breakwater” will see Mulroney star as prison inmate Ray Childress, who charges a just-released fellow prisoner with finding his daughter. The ex-con soon discovers the daughter’s past may be more dangerous than anything he’s faced in prison.

“Dangerous charmers are a fixture in Southern stories,” Rowe said in a statement, “and Ray is a man whose surface cool masks a desperate volatility. Dermot’s appeal and his expansive range, along with his willingness to defy expectations, make him the ideal choice for this guy driven by conflicting impulses.”

Loose Cannon Pictures is producing the project, led by Matt Paul (the SXSW selection “Violet”). Larry Hummel and Edward Winters of Winterstone Pictures will also produce.

Kate Bosworth and rap star 2 Chainz have joined Antonio Banderas on Millennium Media’s noir thriller The Enforcer ahead of a sales launch at the virtual Cannes market.

Millennium Media is producing and anticipates a strong response from global buyers. Richard Hughes will direct from a script by W. Peter Iliff, whose career credits include Point Break, Patriot Games, and Varsity Blues.

Producing The Enforcer are Rob Van Norden, Yariv Lerner, Jeffrey Greenstein, Jonathan Yunger and Les Weldon of Millennium Media, and Natalie Burn of Born to Burn Films.
