Actor Lee Jung-jae will attend the Monte-Carlo Television Festival next month for the French press launch of Lucasfilm’s latest live-action series “Star Wars: The Acolyte,” which streams on Disney+. In the show, Lee plays a Jedi Master.

It was his role in the globally successful Netflix series “Squid Game” that first catapulted Lee’s career to an international level. Starring as Seong Gi-hun (No. 456), a financially struggling father who participates in a deadly survival game, his performance earned him the Emmy Award for best actor in a drama series, a first for a non-English speaking actor.

This tremendous success significantly elevated the career of Lee, who is now considered by many as the international standard-bearer for a highly creative and avant-garde Korean culture.

In “Star Wars: The Acolyte,” an investigation into a series of shocking crimes pits a respected Jedi Master (Lee) against a dangerous warrior from his past.

The Netflix docuseries, which premiered on May 15, revolves around the online dating site Ashley Madison, the slogan of which was “Life is Short. Have an Affair.” It was used by millions of married people who were looking to cheat on their partners. However, in July 2015, the website was hacked, and users’ information was exposed. The hack caused marriages to explode, ruined lives — and even ended some.

“Ashley Madison: Sex, Lies & Scandal” spotlights a number of couples’ stories who were affected by the hack, but much of its screen time focuses on Sam and Nia Raden. They are a couple who became famous on YouTube for sharing their Christian beliefs and had a seemingly perfect marriage. LevelK has unveiled the trailer for “Dancing Queen,” Aurora Gossé’s coming-of-age film world premiering in the Generation section at the Berlin Film Festival.

Penned by Silje Holtet, the dance-filled movie is produced by Thomas Robsahm, whose credits include the Oscar-nominated Norwegian romantic comedy “The Worst Person in the World.”

Korea for decades, having a career that started in the 90s, and came to include a number of the most successful blockbusters in the country, not to mention a couple of masterpieces. As a tribute to a great actor, and on the occasion of the Emmy, we decided to make a list of 10 of his works that definitely deserve a look, in chronological order.

Veteran producer has signed up for three years.

In South Korea, Gangneung International Film Festival (Giff) has appointed veteran producer Oh Jung-wan its new festival director.

Her three-year term is effective from today (April 12) and will run until March 2025.

An important figure in the renaissance of Korean cinema in the 1990s, Oh’s early executive producer credits include seminal films such as The Marriage Life (1992), The Gingko Bed (1996) and An Affair (1998).

She founded Bom Film Productions in 1999 and went on to produce titles such as Kim Jee-woon’s The Foul King (2000), A Tale Of Two Sisters (2003) and A Bittersweet Life...

Merely a year after seeing success with “Beat”, director Kim Sung-soo would once again team up with his star from that production, Jung Woo-sung, for yet another tale of friendship and neglected youth in “City of the Rising Sun”.
