Keolis wins a 100% electric bus network in northern Denmark

Nordjyllands Trafikselskab (NT), the organising authority for the Northern Jutland region (northern Denmark), has just awarded Keolis the contract to operate and maintain a 100% electric bus line serving the towns of Frederikshavn and Aalborg, the country's fourth largest city and capital of Northern Jutland.

For this contract, which will run for ten years from August 2024, Keolis has purchased six new electric buses to replace vehicles previously powered by biogas. The depots in Frederikshavn and Aalborg, each with a capacity of ten buses, will be equipped with infrastructure enabling vehicles to be recharged simultaneously during the night. Nearly 300,000 residents of Northern Jutland will benefit from this new transport service.

A public transport operator in Denmark since 2000, Keolis employs more than 1,400 staff and operates more than 400 buses in eight cities [1], as well as two tram networks. In 2017, Keolis launched the country's very first tramway in Aarhus, a 110 km long network with 51 stations. In Odense, the Group launched another tram network in 2021, which carries almost 10 million passengers a year.
