Meet Vincent from Bend, OR who was recently diagnosed with an inherited macular dystrophy that will cause him to eventually lose his central vision. He and his friend Sean, of New York, NY, are taking on the TCS New York City Marathon. This October, World Blindness Awareness Month, they want to raise awareness about conditions like Vincent's that will cause him to lose his vision over time. "It took a long time to get clarity on what exactly was going on before I got my official diagnosis. When I finally got more information, I knew I wanted to do something fun as soon as possible. I wasn’t exactly sure what it would be at first, but I knew I wanted it to somehow benefit or raise awareness about my condition," says Vincent. Meet the marathoners: https://ow.ly/hrG850TQXrQ

United States Air Force veteran Adam Popp of the #AchillesFreedomTeam has always been mission driven. His next mission? A 24-hour treadmill run starting at 10:00 AM ET next Tuesday, October 15 aiming to break several world records for above knee amputees. He will complete the “Thriving Toward 17” run on an iFIT enabled NordicTrack RO treadmill at the HOKA flagship store in New York City. “Thriving Toward 17” references Adam’s personal mission to break 17 world records in one year commemorating the 17th anniversary of the 2007 day in Afghanistan that changed his life. We did it! Thanks to the support of generous community members like you, the Achilles Day of Giving was a success, raising over $214,000. There's still time to make a difference: https://ow.ly/E8Ln50Tr63h

Many barriers to participation in the sport of running still exist. At Achilles International, we break down those barriers every day in parks and on race courses. We connect athletes with disabilities with supportive and trained volunteer guides, we provide adaptive racing equipment and a safe space to train. But we can't continue to do this without your support. That's why we are hosting the Achilles Day of Giving and have set a goal to raise $200,000 by midnight. We are already halfway there, but have so much further to push. Will you help Achilles athletes reach their next start line? Support an Achilles chapter: https://lnkd.in/eCi4zA6G

The journey to the finish line starts with you. Next Wednesday is Achilles Day of Giving. Will you help us reach our $200,000 goal so chapters like Achilles Canada can support more athletes with disabilities? Make an impact here: https://lnkd.in/eCi4zA6G
