Last week, Joe Marshall was honored with the ESOP - Hawaii Chapter "Employee Owner of the Year." Joe has been with Bowers + Kubota Consulting for 13 years as a Project Coordinator. He has also been with the company since the inception of the ESOP in 2012 and was selected to be a part of B+K’s ESOP Ownership Culture Committee in 2020. Joe takes the initiative in learning more about ESOPs on his own time and is our resident expert when it comes to Diversification. He is a proponent for ownership thinking and the ESOP. He will always take the time to engage other employee owners enthusiastically whenever they have questions regarding the ESOP plan. Joe exemplifies ownership thinking in all he does. In 2022, he took the initiative to clear a path near Kaena Point, a popular hiking spot. He cleared the rubbish and removed an old vehicle that was an eye sore. He engaged the firm and was awarded an award by the Department of Land and Natural Resources for his actions. He truly thinks like an owner. Congratulations receiving this award, Joe! #ESOP #bowersandkubota #fulfillingvisionsbuildingtrust #employeeowner

In conjunction with the Chamber of Commerce Engineering Sector Partnership, volunteers from B+K and HECO organized a Mana Wahine Panel at Dole Middle School. The initiative was to help promote engineering career awareness from a young age and to increase the number of women in STEM. The engineering professionals spoke on a panel to 50 young female students to spark their interests in a career in the STEM field. An interactive bridge-building activity was also conducted to test the students’ skills in problem solving and math. Mahalo to our panel volunteers for inspiring the next generation of future women engineers! #manawahinepanel #bowersandkubota #fulfillingvisionsbuildingtrust #employeeowned

On Monday, B+K helped pack 400 backpacks as part of the Ready Keiki initiative led by Lieutenant Governor Sylvia Luke. From packing storybooks, water bottles, crayons and taping up boxes - it was a fun event packing together! The backpacks will be distributed to the keiki in the 46 new public pre-K classrooms across the State of Hawaii. We are proud to be part of this experience to make a difference for our keiki future. We want to give a big mahalo to our Ready Keiki donors Construction Management Association of America (CMAA) Hawaii Chapter, Harold K.L Castle Foundation, ECAS - Early Childhood Action Strategy and PSHF - Public Schools of Hawaii Foundation. #readykeiki #bowersandkubota #fulfillingvisionsbuildingtrust #employeeowned

For this month's Brianism, lets remind ourselves that challenges lead to growth. Without struggle, there is no progress. The journey becomes more rewarding when we face difficulty head-on. #brianism #bowersandkubota #fulfillingvisionsbuildingtrust #employeeowned

This past weekend, our B+K family participated in the Annual AIA CANstruction competition. It was a day of fun and creativity! With the theme of "Game Over for Hunger," our team designed Hungry Hungry Honu. "Hungry Hungry Honu, like the honu, symbolizes resilience and wisdom, qualities that are high valued in Hawaiian culture. The ability of the honu to navigate wide oceans and return to the same beaches where they were born mirrors the Hawaiian people's connection to their ancestral lands the resilience required to overcome challenges." Big mahalo to our rockstar team who participated in the planning and building making our vision come to life. Check out our fun recap of our B+K ohana in action! This week is the People’s Choice Awards. Please vote for our CANstruction Hungry Hungry Honu using the link below, or by texting “CANstruction1” to 71777. $1 Donation = 1 Vote to Hawaii Foodbank.
