The great thing about having standards is that the whole ecosystem benefits from it, and technology moves forward! ... At the beginning, 3D probably felt like some sort of dark magic for the selected few who dared to understand it, but now we can "speak 3D" just like we handle pictures. Thanks The Khronos Group and Cesium for this plugin, it looks amazing!.
The glTF Tools extension for Visual Studio Code (https://lnkd.in/g_9RqD7v) allows you to preview, edit, and debug #glTF assets. It can render the asset with different viewers, directly in the editor. If offers code completion for the glTF #JSON. It can even show the values of accessors that are defined in the glTF.

Exciting times in Athens! The plenary meeting for the ExPEDite project has just concluded, and I’m thrilled to share that Sweco is actively participating as a technical partner in this Horizon Europe funded initiative under the #UKRI Horizon Europe Guarantee funding. Last week at the National Technical University of Athens, all partners showcased the progress of their research and collaborative efforts. Gathering data from different sources, the project aims to enable Positive Energy Districts through the utilization of a novel digital twin. Sweco expert Dinos Ipiotis, MSc, MCIBSE. utilizes #UnrealEngine and Cesium to create the Design View, an environment aiming to assist urban planners in the decision making processes. I am currently undertaking a literature review on the state-of-the-art knowledge on building stock modelling, and the insights gained from this event are invaluable for structuring my review in a way that best supports the project goals. A big thank you to all the partners for their inspiring presentations and discussions! Looking forward to the next steps and continuing this important work together. Visit #ExPEDite webpage and subscribe to the newsletter for the latest insights and developments in the ExPEDite project! https://lnkd.in/eUJ3kcmC

Last night, I participated in FOS4G Japan in support of the Cesium team and Patrick Cozzi's keynote. I was happy to cheer on open source for geospatial and to add my voice to the appreciation for the global open source community - using my experience with the 3D Tiles Community Standard and how it brought together the gaming, the military simulation, the Architecture and Engineering, and geospatial data to deliver visualizations that are so close to reality! In a world of increasing frequencies and scales of disasters, openness and collaboration are our best tools for resilience and sustainability! Thank you to everyone involved in geospatial collaboration!

With tens of thousands of monthly active developers, Cesium ion relies on a well-thought-out Continuous Integration / Continuous Deployment system to facilitate stability while also enabling agility to ship new features and fixes. Ankit Trehan details it in his latest technical blog post. He is well on his way to writing a full book at some point, we would be proud! Give it a read and let us know what you would like to see next in Cesium ion. https://lnkd.in/ex3cnUfA
