Compass Founder and CEO Robert Reffkin recently appeared on Bloomberg to discuss the housing market and how NAR’s Clear Cooperation Policy is hurting both homeowners and buyers by artificially restraining the level of inventory in the market. There shouldn’t be a risk to list. Homeowners should have a choice to list however they want - with no days on market, no price drop history, no valuation estimates, without their listing agents' name being taken off their listings, without their listing inquiries being sold to 3rd party agents who don’t know the neighborhood or property, without their data being sold. Compass reported its third quarter 2024 earnings results today, showcasing strong outperformance compared to the broader residential real estate market. We are deeply thankful for our 33,000+ agents and 2,500 employees across the country whose dedication helped Compass grow 18% faster than the market, with agents closing 55,872 transactions—a 16.1% year-over-year increase—while the market declined by 1.9%. Thanks to their efforts, Compass also grew Adjusted EBITDA significantly year-over-year and was free cash flow positive for Q3, marking the third consecutive quarter and five of the last six quarters achieving positive free cash flow. These results underscore the clear momentum we’ve built and the dedication demonstrated by our agent and employee community.
