Long story short: October’s job report is quite a doozy, but needs to be digested with context. With just 12,000 jobs added last month, a figure well below what was projected, October 2024 showed by far the slowest growth since 2020. Experts are siting a few causes for these low numbers, including: ⚫ The effects of Hurricanes Helene and Milton on large areas of the Southeast ⚫ Dockworker strikes across the country ⚫ Other strikes across industries such as manufacturing and hospitality These factors, coupled with the uncertainty surrounding today’s election results, are being labeled as oddities or one-time events, rather than actual indicators of the market’s true health. Despite the lower-than-expected job numbers, national unemployment remained steady at 4.1%, suggesting that the labor market is overall remaining firm. To talk more about the implications of this month’s report, or the hiring market at-large, send me a message! The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics’ full report is available here: https://lnkd.in/gVh6YukE

Happy Halloween from The Encompass Group! We've had such a fun week full of pumpkin painting, a chili cook-off (shoutout Sophia Barrera for becoming this year's champ!), and a costume contest (which Rachel Vicary won by a landslide)! This year we had 2 groups full of icons - one of 90's cartoon characters, and one of classic moms! Comment below who you spot! 👀 Wishing everyone a fun and safe Halloween! 🎃
