Here at VITL, we are proud to partner with 48 EMS agencies across Vermont, each dedicated to delivering essential emergency medical services in their communities. VITL gives these agencies access to consolidated electronic medical records, to make patient information accessible during emergencies. We were proud to join Richmond Rescue, a provider of 911 ambulance services to seven Vermont towns, last night on NBC5 to highlight the great work they’re doing in the community. Michael Chiarella, the Director of Operations at Richmond Rescue says: "VITL is amazing… It’s reassuring to know that even if someone can’t talk to us, we can still get information on someone’s medical history or typical line of questioning with every patient. For the past 50 years, Vermont WIC has provided critical support to pregnant, breastfeeding/chestfeeding individuals, infants, and young children across the state through their nutrition and education programs and health care referrals, serving approximately 11,000 participants. We are excited to share how Vermont WIC leverages VITL data to elevate their programs and better serve families. Using VITLAccess, a secure clinical portal, Vermont WIC staff can access essential health data for WIC participants that has been collected by their primary care provider or pediatrician. When their health data is available in the portal, WIC participants avoid duplicate testing and can even choose for their appointments with WIC staff to happen remotely. This gives Vermont WIC participants more options to stay connected to the program which helps so many families across the state. Amy Malinowski, RD, Assistant Director for WIC Evaluation and Quality Improvement at Vermont Department of Health, underscores the impact: “We’re in a new place where the data we’re getting from VITL is not only helping us conduct thorough health assessments, but it’s also keeping families certified and actively enrolled in the WIC program if they have a hardship that prevents them from coming into the office to do an in-person visit.” Amy continues: “We can get the information in VITL and still connect with the family over the phone, meet all of our program requirements, conduct health assessments, and keep families in the program.” The collaboration with Vermont WIC has proven pivotal in addressing data challenges, enabling comprehensive health assessments and positive outcomes for Vermont families.
