No one knows everything. Recognizing this limitation and the potential fallibility of even our most deeply held beliefs is core to the concept of intellectual humility. “It helps you overcome this very categorical, black-and-white thinking that we are often succumbing to,” said Igor Grossmann, professor of psychology at the University of Waterloo.
Be humble. It’s good for learning and your relationships.

Sitting on a pillow in the middle of an orchestra rehearsal room, a tuxedo-wearing German shepherd-mix puppy peacefully closed his eyes to take in the live music around him. An increasingly popular champion of classical music on social media, the 2½-year-old rescue, Billy, was invited by the Vancouver Metropolitan Orchestra to sit in on its first rehearsal of the season Sept. 4. Musician couple Lucian Barz, a 33-year-old violinist and violist, and Teresa Bowes, a 27-year-old pianist, adopted Billy from a rescue farm in Texas in June 2022, and were completely unaware of his ear for classical music when they brought him to Canada. The German shepherd-mix puppy adopted from a rescue farm in Texas displayed an ear for the sounds his musician owners played soon after joining them.

In The Washington Post today, we dug into a political mystery. Donald Trump famously hates smoking — so why is Big Tobacco giving his campaign so much money? Answer: the industry thinks Trump is their best bet to protect their interests. The Biden administration has prepared a national ban on menthol cigarettes that could cost Big Tobacco billions of dollars. And if you follow the money, the top corporate donor to the main pro-Trump super PAC … is a subsidiary of the maker of Newports, the No. 1 menthol brand in the country. More in our deep dive with Isaac Stanley-Becker and Josh Dawsey. https://lnkd.in/dYdke6BJ
