We recognize the value of education and are excited about the future of our industry. Take a look at how Westlake Global Compounds is inspiring polymer science students at a high school near its Madison, Mississippi site:
It's National STEM Day! ⚛️Today we celebrate science, technology, engineering and math education. Westlake Global Compounds is proud of our collaborative efforts with Brookhaven High School's polymer science program, with the goal of nurturing the next generation of experts in this vital field. Under the guidance of their teacher Leah Ann Peavey, this two-year program has helped equip students with the skills and knowledge to tackle the future of polymer science. For a decade, Allen Spencer, technical supervisor - Rigid Compounds at Westlake Global Compounds, has played an integral role in the program's advisory committee. The team's dedication is reflected in the program's achievements, including top honors in the The University of Southern Mississippi polymer science high school competition. In our latest endeavor, we organized a field trip for the program's second-year students to Westlake Global Compounds' Madison, Mississippi site. In October, they were treated to an enlightening presentation by Mike McCardle, senior manager - Manufacturing, who shared the rich history of the company and a glimpse into our operations. The students also engaged with our PVC101 presentation, followed by a lively Q&A session that sparked curiosity and deepened their understanding of the industry. A hands-on plant and lab tour further bridged the gap between classroom learning and real-world application, culminating in another interactive Q&A session. This initiative underscores Westlake's core value of community engagement, including supporting programs that are shaping the industry's future leaders. We eagerly look forward to continuing this program. #WestlakeCompounds #PolymerScience #CommunityEngagement #Education #STEM #BrookhavenHighSchool #FieldTrip
