There are certain agencies I consistently hear terrible things about. There are certain agencies I consistently help brands move away from. Still -- I don't think those agencies are 'bad' agencies. They are bad for those clients though. Better for others, presumably. And, even "the best agency in the world" to some of their clients, too. I don't want to work with them. And I wouldn't recommend them. But, the point is this. Finding an agency is easy. Finding the right agency is hard. Agencies should be more selective in who they take on. Agencies should be more graceful when they lose clients. Agencies should stay in their proverbial lane. Brands should communicate their needs better. Brands should be more transparent with their agencies. Brands should invest more into their agencies. *not necessarily $$. Good agencies exist. Bad agencies exist. Great agencies exist. Good to you, may be bad to another. Great is the goal. Ya just gotta find them. ..ya may have to kiss a few frogs first, too.

Agency red flags that continue to come up in audits.. 🚩 🚩 1) You ask them to hit a higher in platform ROAS and the first thing they do is shift 50% of your budget to retargeting, artificially inflating the ROAS (can't tell you how common this is!) 2) You tell them your business has slowed and ask for recs on further growing and they ONLY come back with upper funnel recs, instead of innovating further with offer testing, creative, landing page testing and more DR tactics (which are completely untapped) 3) They rebuild your whole ad account structure and put everything into learning phase (this only makes sense if nothing was working in the first place) The good news is all of these are fixable and are quick to catch. If you ever find yourself stuck with your growth marketing, these are some things you can check for. Or you can reach out to someone like myself/get an outside perspective. The Worst Amazon Update I have heard in 2024 The introduction of the "DON'T BUY NOW" widget? This feature is designed to discourage impulsive purchases.  While the intent behind this initiative might seem commendable  Its potential implications are far-reaching. 1. Averaged Sales: The widget might lead to a decrease in sales before a deal. When combined with the sales boost during the deal The overall sales could remain relatively unchanged or even decline. 2. Lightning Deals:  For Lightning Deals, which rely on a sense of urgency and limited availability The widget could discourage purchases, leading to lower overall sales. 3. Potential for Manipulation: There's a risk that Amazon might use this widget to manipulate consumer behavior Guiding them towards products that align with their interests rather than the audience's needs. At this moment we all just need to pay attention.  An experienced specialist will always dig & take advantage of every opportunity. Here’s an email flow that almost everyone is using incorrectly: A reminder for any brand owner who needs to hear this... Your post-purchase flow is NOT for selling more products. It’s for: 1. Elevating the customer experience to make first-timers become repeat purchasers. 2. Tackling buyers’ remorse - Keep them excited while their order arrives 3. Lowering the chance of returns 4. And lastly, if appropriate: upsell & cross-sell Selling more products isn’t the goal of this flow. It’s merely a great added bonus – on top of everything else.

Ewwww google ads audits...you know we love them. This is the "low hanging fruit" type of post for some. For others....opportunity. We tend to see car dealerships have these common pitfalls that drive overall lower campaign performance and lack of traffic. The conversations with dealership leadership starts something like this... "Where are my leads?" "Why am I not getting enough leads?" or something of the sort. Below are common issues that could be choking (literally) your available traffic on Google. Last week I made a $10,000 bet... 😳 The bet: by the end of 2025 LinkedIn Micro Influencers will be a ‘thing.’ The LinkedIn network will follow what IG and TikTok have already done: leverage niche, engaged audiences through smaller LinkedIn accounts. DTC brands clued on to this in 2014-2015. They saw this as a cost effective way to reach their customers through authentic recommendations from smaller, more trusted accounts. At the time, most micro-influencers on IG were happy with some free product to do a promotion. 99.9% of LinkedIn users who have a creator account aren’t monetising their content. It’s not a ‘thing’ 𝘆𝗲𝘁. Most users are employees, not founders and CEOs, who have grown a following from posting thoughtful content over the years. This following is now becoming a real asset for brands. B2B Brands are going to start 𝗽𝗮𝘆𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗟𝗶𝗻𝗸𝗲𝗱𝗜𝗻 𝘂𝘀𝗲𝗿𝘀 who have niche audiences to promote their product or service to their following. Yes, the audiences must be aligned, they believe in the product… blah, blah, blah. 𝗘𝘅𝗮𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗲: You’re a Marketing Manager of an Adult Toy ecommerce business. I've been saying this since 2020 and I'll say it again. LIVE Shopping has the greatest compounding effect across your entire funnel compared to any other eCommerce strategy. There is nothing else that comes close. Remember that brand that we go LIVE for that sold 100K on their LIVE sales in the first 30 days? We just sold 150K in one LIVE. This would never have happened if we didn't take the time to train their audience to shop lives, stayed consistent with their scheduling, and promoted before, during, and after each LIVE to create a flywheel. Even better? The sales lift they got the day after LIVE. We often see sales on the #TikTok Shop skyrocket the day after these big #LIVES. All aspects of the funnel see a significant uptick in results. #Ads perform better, #affiliate videos convert at a higher rate, and product card GMV is increased. And their brand.com / #Amazon sales can jump upwards of 50% in the 72 hours after. This is why it's so crucial to work with an agency that does e-commerce, runs ads, and does more than just LIVE, while still having the proven results to crush LIVE sales over and over again. And always remember, if you're not looking at your LIVES in terms of what they do holistically across your entire marketing funnel, you're missing the biggest piece of the puzzle.

Product Page Redesign 34/100 - Wake Up Water Tyler Dooley's content got my eyeballs on this brand, so I made them a BANGER redesign. I've made 10+ improvements to their page. Here's a breakdown: -> Bolded the announcement bar to stand out -> Resized the product carousel to save space -> Added product features inside the image -> Resized & bolded the title and reviews -> Added an image to size selector -> Added three main bullet points -> Reworked the flavor selector -> Added subscription details -> Reworked the CTA -> Risk-reversal What do you think? Is the "blue dot" about to become a marketing phenomenon? Will it be a catalyst for marketing simplicity? In Omaha, Jason Brown painted a large blue on dot on a white sign and planted it on his front yard. It's a message that he supports the Democratic Party. Then, Brown's neighbours asked him to make them blue dot signs. He ran out of supplies after making 400. At a time when capturing the spotlight is, to put it mildly, challenging, the blue dot suggests that the most effective marketing can be user-friendly and accessible. While approaches like creativity and brute force (e.g. advertising and retargeting) drive brand awareness, easy-to-understand marketing (with a dash of mystery) is powerful. Buyer psychology is weird. ... and sometimes, illogical. For instance: 15% discounts, tend to outperform 20% discounts. That's why Geico went all-in on their amazing tagline last decade. "15 minutes can save you 15% or more on car insurance" Something about "15" just stands out. People respond more to it. I don't know why. And frankly, I don't care. All I know is, it works, so I use it. And every fun fact I pick up becomes a new weapon I can use. Moral of the story? Pay close attention to your ads' metrics. See what's performing (and what isn't)... And look for patterns. Just set up Google Local Service Ads and the leads will pour in... Not so fast Google only makes money when someone contacts you "turns in to a lead" If you do not have a company profile people want to click on AKA - no rating or low ratings Google won't want to put you up there as an option because they wont make $ They know people are more likely to click on a profile with 2 things 1. A higher rating 2. More reviews Google reviews win again!! Go get reviews :)

This one hire can be rocks or diamonds for your business: Especially for DTC brands doing $1m - $10m per year... It's Marketing Managers. I've worked with 100's of brands. Ranging from $10k p/m to $1.5m p/m. And have seen time and time again new Marketing Managers come into a business and completely turn the ship around. These transformations can be tied to the exact month they started! On the other hand... I've seen new managers be absolute wrecking balls. ~ Destroying internal team dynamics ~ Pivoting strategies on a whim ~ Using old & outdated techniques Founders building out a marketing team need to hire carefully for this position.
