Relationships first professional adept at prioritizing multiple high-stakes projects with a proven track record of building trust with a diverse group of stakeholders.
According to a study by Fidelity Charitable, 83% of surveyed millennials believe that activism and charitable giving go hand in hand. Generally, millennials are those born between 1981 and 1996. It may just be me and my Gen X tendencies, but I always felt like millennials were so much younger than me...but they aren't. They are adults with philanthropic intent. Many 501C3 organizations have a related 501C4, but for those who don't, are you considering it? With the political division and gridlocked Congress, passing legislation at the local or federal level can become increasingly difficult. As more and more donors look at their giving as a form of impact investing, I predict a shift where donors look to organizations with both C3 and C4 to achieve their philanthropic vision. 💪🏽 Please check out this timely and important op-ed in Inside Philanthropy from my FSG and Collective Impact Forum colleagues Cindy Santos, Monique Miles, and Jennifer Splansky Juster. The recent Fearless Fund ruling underscores the need for philanthropy to double down on supporting multisector place-based partnerships as a key strategy for advancing equity at a local level. "Philanthropy can significantly influence the direction of the social change ecosystem by providing crucial funding, strategic guidance and credibility to social justice initiatives and nonprofits. In these challenging times, philanthropy has a role to play as an empowering source to support place-based partnerships and continue to advance equity." They name specific ways funders can provide protection and continued funding for equity initiatives, including: ⏩ Fund both "offense" and "defense," in support of strategies to keep equity work centered ⏩ Strengthen collaborative infrastructure so partners can move their agendas forward ⏩ Fortify critical communication strategies and narrative change work ⏩ Prioritize wellness for leaders, especially leaders of color doing this work ⏩ Invest in peer learning spaces, for shared learning among leaders You can read the full piece here: https://lnkd.in/eCm_xQhf #philanthropy #foundations #placebased #equity #socialimpact
